The computer I was on, that day, had its brightness turned down. I turned it up.
Still, a 30 percent increase in brightness shouldn't change my ability to see copy. Thick and thin lines, in a font, are often problematic. So keep an eye out, for that. You. May be used to a fancy flowing font. But you don't see fancy flowing fonts in newspaper copy, do you? Don't discount my point here. Someone else, not even understanding what they do not like, will not see--meaning READ--your copy.
Typography is a bug up my ass. Always has been. Communication is essential, especially in design copy. If the customer can't read it, he's not gonna know about your product. And if he doesn't know about your product, he ain't gonna buy it.
Clarity in communication is paramount. And don't let some crazed designhead get you thinking otherwise. They are so busy being 'in love with' their artististic endeavors--I've seen it on the internet too, with these programmers who are so in love with the lastest gadget or gizmo--they fail to see, no one is reading their ad. They're just saying, "Oh. Pretty picture/design. Wonder what they're selling?" *grin*
Clarity in communication is paramount. You have thirty seconds to get their attention, the first time. Don't blow it.
Heather, again, just my view. I'm sure even some teachers will pat heads for the art they see. Which is fine. They don't have to depend on their livelihoods for it. Your employers/clients..DO.

The red, so far, is offering me the best view of the copy. Always keep that in mind, k?
Cute creature, by the way. The man, he who will not be egged. Heh.

hmm, yes i think its your monitor. most of the monitors i have used to view these pick it up. they are, dont get me mistaken, very dark shades though. perhaps your monitor (like the monitor in my bedroom and the monitor of one of the comps i use at school) doesnt pick up dark colors very well.
i think you can adjust this in your monitors settings, i had it fixed on my Mac, but the comp at school doesnt have that capability.
you might want to look into this... perhaps you are missing a lot of detail in darker things you view on your computer.
