A few notes.+ The whole schmeer is inspired by the cover of Ray Lamontagne's Trouble, which is a great album, by the way, and which is why Sarah has no eyes. She's too pretty to blindfold, so I just blinded her. Just for the sake of metaphor, of course.
+ My shadows and shit are all willy-nilly because it's just a sketch and I save the good skills for the final minutes.
+ Jareth's coat is based off that kickass bomb-leather number in roughly the second act of Labyrinth, but I was working from memory and I jacked it all up, and then I decided I didn't care because I like the teeny-weeny bird skull buttons.
+ Yes, he is secreting an apple in his left hand.
+ I'm not making his package any bigger, so QUIT ASKING, JARETH. I don't care how big it is, leave me alone. Crazy goblin.
My sister and I agreed that Jareth reminds us heavily of the devil in our favorite mythology of him–––lonely, angry, arrogant, a bully. When he meets Sarah, who defies and rejects him, he tries to scare and trick her, and then to tempt her with false treasures. He represents every sin and she resists in favor of the best thing in the world: family love. Is Jareth too far gone to have any concept of real love? Does he just want her, like a toy?
Most women, I'm told, imagine the devil as a handsome, charming man. It speaks to our weakness and to our secret belief that we–––that love–––can fix and change anything.
You know, lookin' at this now, I should have given him some horns. I think I will. He would wear them well.

Simply stunning. This sketch is the perfect depiction of Sarah and Jareth's relationship, and I love both of their expressions and poses.
By the way, am I imagining it, or is Jareth (in addition to conjuring an apple) crossing his fingers behind his back?

Any idea where I can find a man willing to wear that coat? Heck, know where I can find one for myself? Loved it for ages...it's one of my favorite wardrobe bits ever. YOu did it justice, and even spiced it up a bit! Nice work!

I love the symbolism, and I do very much agree that he does seem very much like the devil.
Very sexy devil, but that's straying into the thoughts he wants you to think. I'm confusing myself. I need to go to bed before I embarrass myself any more.

Utterly beautiful. My love in the labyrinth was re-kindled, and shall probably result in art/fics. I love how your hands turned out, I've always found them to be the hardest thing to draw.
P.S. I just bought the most AWESOME Jareth figurine..it even comes with a little goblin! Check out his outfit!

This artpicture in itself is very good draw. It looks alot like the characters from the movie.
About this term;lonely, angry, arrogant, a bully.
When you think of it,all these things comes from having exsperiened bad things that hurt.
Maybe that's what a real devil and demon is.
The shape of the result of having pain, some calling it evil.

just a question: what propotion you used for the bodies, 7 heads tall? Because the most common is the 8 heads tall but in in this drawing the bodies are more realistic.

I totally agree with you- Jareth is an allegory for the Devil- he has that villianous, fey aspect to him. Labyrinth definitely has that Joseph Campbell "Hero's Journey" thing to it. And shades of Hades and Persephone.

no matter how many times i look at this it sends me going 'gheeeeee!' in a blushing fangirl mode all over the place. i simply love how you did his hair and their poses! also, much agreement on the bit about, at least, suspecting the devil to be charming and/or well mannered. i'm not quite sure if it's a cliche now, that, but it's certainly not over done....;.;

I can stop looking at the faces, though, honestly. They are a whole new level of gorgeous. You got Sarah perfectly, and Jareth's hair, which is so very hard to do, looks immaculate.

I'm completely wowed by both your drawing and your remarkable artist's comments. The way you've posed them is so life like and beautiful, I can't get over the neatness of their legs and feet and hands. You've really captured both of the actors features, while still retaining the characters. Jareth's profile and hair is especially lovely and very inspiring.

Wow. I know it's just line art, but it's such good line art--I mean--you got their faces, their bodies, everything drawn perfectly! And besides the amazing accuracy, it's so intriguing. The poses and the facial expressions tell a story. It looks like Sarah is literally under his spell, and if "devil" is what you were going for with Jareth, you couldn't have done a better job.

Absolutely fantastic.
Even as a sketch, it is infinitely better than any humans I would be able to draw, I'm terrible at people. I love their expressions, and I must say Jareth knows exactly how to dress to distract anyone he comes in contact with.
