Description
It could be his rejection and defeat, or it could be the first time he fell in love with Sarah. Both are painful, thrilling falls. A little melodramatic for me, but it gets the point across. (I'm lame!)I'm stuck on that long panel look. This whole thing was an excuse to draw the animal bones on the shoulders of Jareth's owl coat in the last act of Labyrinth, and you can't see much of them. I want to do another.
This one was frustrating and I don't know how I feel about it. I did it during a bad cold, so I was cranky and stuffy and inclined to half-ass it. Goddamn, I don't know what I was thinking with all the fabric. Never again, unless I get some skills.
The title kind of needs explaining; I've been really heartbroken twice in my life, and both times the only thing that made me feel better was listening to "Drowndeep: Hula" by Maxwell. It's an undulating, underwater song, appropriately embryonic, like a good Codeine fog. It put a new feeling to the word "hula".
materials: ink and Letraset illustration marker on bristol, plus a touch of the ol' PS
music: Maxwell, "Drowndeep: Hula"

I've been looking for good reference of the shoulder part of that coat for ages since I love that coat(cloak but the liberal use of softener/filters in basically all pictures makes it so hard to see what's going on there.
Love your version here especially the expression and all the gold/off-white shades.

I love your interpretation of him feeling this way when he (like your portrait) fell for Sarah, also a bit of tragic irony. I know logically it makes no sense for them to be together, but I love the both of them anyway Β . Anyway I wanna fav your art . Gosh it beautiful Β Rest in peace beautiful, angelic star child.Β Β

I have a great line for that, sarah is watching Jareth fall and she can't get to him fast enough for some reason but she said, "I watch my love fall and for all my reasons to live, I have no hope!"

I've browsed DA for labyrinth art MANY times, and I found this piece probably over a year ago, and I still think it's the best Labyrinth fanart I've ever seen. Totally my favorite. I love every single thing about it. Fantastic work.

You honestly wouldn't need my permission, but I would strongly urge you to reconsider. While it is hugely flattering -- the ultimate "I like your work" -- I really dislike the idea of it being permanent on somebody. You can get something so much better, that will mean something special forever. This might not be that thing.

Well if you dislike the idea I seriously wont get it out of respect for the artist. I feel very close to this film since I watched it over and over while I was in the hospital. And every time I hear Bowie sing Within You, I cry a little bit. I know how he felt at having something torn from him, to believe you have all the power in the cosmos and then have your pride and heart shattered. I went through something very similar with the suicide of the man I loved. The pain you painted on his face and the look of utter defeat is why I would love this on my body. But I respect your wishes

You know something... I realize now it's pretty arrogant of me to assume that I know what's better for the person who wants to have something tattooed on them. I don't have any tattoos myself, and I'm also lucky enough to not have gone through anything as heavy as what you have. I'm so very sorry you've had to go through that, but very glad you're doing better now. I can't even imagine.
Knowing what this means to you now, I would be honored to give my permission, and more than anything I'm so touched, beyond words, that anything I drew could mean something so special and personal to you. If you still want to get this done, please do so, and i would love to see the result.

I don't like seeing Jareth like that at all. Jareth is the Goblin King go to Norse Myths that makes him Loki. AKA "MY GOD".

If Jareth is your "God"... You know, I can't even be arsed to make fun of you until your graduate from the YA novel section.

I'm a Pagan, I have over a 1000 Gods and Goddesses. But "Loki, Ares and Artemis" are the ones I pray to most. So it's not some fan thing want I say he my god. He really is.
So make fun if you want.

Ahhh ha. I see now. Sorry for generalizing. You don't meet a lot of practicing Norse-based Pagans these days.

I know, I only know one other who belives in the Norse Gods. There are so little pagans lift in the world.
So let me guess, when I said that he is my god you thought I was a mega fan or something of Labyrinth?

Well, usually when someone refers to a fictional character, they don't usually mean it's their actual god, they're just practicing hyperbole. Unless you count Jesus, but there's some controversy there.
