Woody wasn't smiling when I drew this, but it sort of became necessary. Nothing's so bad that a sweet dog nearby can't make it a little better.I'm pretty proud of how all this color turned out. I don't do a lot of complicated lighting (not that this is exactly complicated, but it is for me), and when I do it right it sure feels good. The wave cup is from an old drawing of mine, and I recycle that pattern a lot.
I have a great dog, a Shar-pei named Oscar. He's a total meatloaf, and he's got these big, sad eyes, but he really smiles when he's happy. He and I have had a weird relationship. I'm not a dog person, but I am, at least, an Oscar person. He knows when I'm sad and he plops down next to me. I feel like he knows he can't do much, but at least he can share in my blues. I bet Slinky's like that. They've been through a lot together, those two.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but Slinky is usually a bit bigger than this.

I don't think it is really in Slink's character to nuzzle up to Woody like that... it's kinda gay. Slink like all the toys are more like people then their respective appearances. Now sure these two are good friends, but how often do you find a guy snuggling up to another when he's feeling down?

But he wouldn't do that. He doesn't act like a dog in the movies does he? No. He might make references to the fact that he's got the appearance of a dog, but that doesn't make him a dog.

I snuggle up to my cat and he's a boy too, not gay at all. What I'm saying is that you might as well replace Slinky with Buzz. Tell me with a straight face that wouldn't be weird. Slink is not a dog he's not a pet, he's essentially a person, as are all the other toys (most of them at least) they act and talk like people. THerefore this picture is super weird and gay, which is not reflective of the characters' personalities.

It is a nice picture, but it bastardizes the characters at the same time. Much like most creepy fan art from Disney movies. I'm not saying it's naughty, it's just really really weird. Unfortunately you can't see that, too bad.

Jim Varney ? Yeah, he died a little over ten years ago. He was a great actor, with a gift of amazing memory, and a place in the hearts of all of his co-cast and fans.

Yeah, I think so. He was awesome, I miss him. But thye new guy who plays Slinky's voice is pretty good too. You hardly hear a difference.

To be honest, I'm not a dog person. Pretty much my first memory of dogs was my next-door neighbor's dog (long story alert). Our neighbors did not have a fence so their dog was free to roam around in our backyard (and pooped a lot there, actually). One time, I went up to pet it and it bit my hand. Another time, when I was rollerblading to a friend's house, the dog ran out from nowhere and chased me all the way there. Then it chased me back home when I left. Also, the neighbor's son stole my bike and dismantled it, which has nothing to do with dogs, but hey. And on a more superficial note, I just never liked the way their slobber felt.
However, I am most definitely a Slinky person. Goddamn, he's so adorable...I wish I had a slinky like that.

Damn, what an asshole dog! I've had some bad dog experiences. Had a lot of good ones, too, but I just don't prefer dogs. But you meet some sometimes, they sit just right with you.

This is so cute! Slink was always one of my favorite characters in Toy Story. I even had one as a toy as a kid.
This really makes me so happy. I feel like Woody in this picture. I always feel so much better when of my dogs comes over and "asks" what's wrong and such. Great job!

The voice actor of Slinky-Dog died before the making of Toy Story 3, which is why he doesn't talk very much. It's not as good without Slinky-Dog.
