I know better than to read fanfiction, but it always gets me in the end. There's a good one, a Legion fanfic by The Noble Rot called Ghosts of Babylon , and it's a total heartwrecker. Shot me full of arrows. The story, basically, is that the angel Gabriel cares for this badly injured girl, saves her life, and sort of falls in love with her, which apparently upsets people in Heaven. She ends up raising cane (so to speak) and tries to plead his case before God (who is a dick), and it's all very fraught with emotion and full of the stuff that kills me.A cursory glance around my gallery proves what a sucker I am for girl heroes, for strong men powerless in the face of their love for them. This is the girl, Audrey, wearing one of his feathers in her hair and holding him. She's not the most sympathetic character, but I'm impressed by her determination. She travels through Heaven and loses her shit with angels and does whatever it'll take to protect the person she loves. It makes me think of that beautiful tune, "You Will Be My Ain True Love".

Well I liked the Dark Materials, but that had substance, tha fan fic just sounds anti-Christian, which sounds incredibly dumb.

Great trilogy, deals with Nostics, they made a bad movie of the first book recently (ok it was a great movie, but it barely did the book justice, as these things tend to do), called the Golden Compass. You may have heard of that? (and I may have misspelt Nostics pardon me)

Gabe... he just pretty much dropped his heart at her feet like a squelchy lump of mush, and instead of just stomping on it (though she seemed to be considering about it for a while) she picked it up and cuddled it and petted it and called it George.

I don't usually read fan fiction but you are one of my favorite artists on DA and when I saw such beautiful artwork I decided it must be worth reading. It was beautiful and heart wrenching, I couldn't put it down I loved it so much. Your drawing is a lovely tribute.

I think for me it was a combination of the beautiful art work and your description of the fic. I always read the descriptions that go with your drawings and (to me) you seem like a delightful and kindhearted person. So to hear you speak highly of it as something that was moved you, I figured it was likely not something pointless. Which is exactly what I look for in anything I read.
Also it helps that you seem to have good taste since I love everything you post up here.

She wrote nineteen chapters in less than a year, so three months is a long gap for an update, but I'll still be hoping..
And this picture is just.. piercing. The way she's standing over him even though he's so powerful, lips set and eyes hard... it really drives it home. I keep staring at his collar, also- can't help but wonder what sort of metal it would be made of.

I feel like once he realized that he loved her, he knew there was nothing he could do, no power he could have over her. Only God and Audrey could cut him down, and Audrey would only lift him up. That's pretty powerful stuff.
I kind of love the collars, as sad as they make me. Some kind of heavenly alloy, I reckon.

I've liked you artwork for a while now, and I really like this piece.
My art history class covered early Christian art this term and something about this piece makes me think of that.
The faces are excellent (you've captured Mr. Durand really well here) and the halo is a nice touch. I liked this picture so much I read the fanfic, and you're right, it's a real heart-wrencher!

Thank you so much! You know, I can't think off the top of my head what early Christian art looks like. Are you talking like, the Cambrai Madonna? I kind of love Catholic artwork, all crazy with symbolism and gold leaf, and I think I go for that feeling of spiritual ecstasy a lot. So thank you, is what I mean to say.

I love this picture. Oh and I've realized that Kevin Durand is a giant of a man. 6'6", I've only known one person in my life that was close to that height. That man wouldn't be able to use me as work out equipment I'm too small compared to him. hehehehe
I still can't believe that I didn't realize that he was Jacob from Dark Angel. Dang he is good.
