I know better than to read fanfiction, but it always gets me in the end. There's a good one, a Legion fanfic by The Noble Rot called Ghosts of Babylon , and it's a total heartwrecker. Shot me full of arrows. The story, basically, is that the angel Gabriel cares for this badly injured girl, saves her life, and sort of falls in love with her, which apparently upsets people in Heaven. She ends up raising cane (so to speak) and tries to plead his case before God (who is a dick), and it's all very fraught with emotion and full of the stuff that kills me.A cursory glance around my gallery proves what a sucker I am for girl heroes, for strong men powerless in the face of their love for them. This is the girl, Audrey, wearing one of his feathers in her hair and holding him. She's not the most sympathetic character, but I'm impressed by her determination. She travels through Heaven and loses her shit with angels and does whatever it'll take to protect the person she loves. It makes me think of that beautiful tune, "You Will Be My Ain True Love".

Absolutely! All I write is fluff for that exact same reason-it feels good. Not only for the writer, but the reader too. Though I've came across quite a few people who turn up their noses at fluff. I guess they're more for the angst pie.
That's exactly what I would call it. Like you keep hoping for a happy ending, even though you know that's not what's going to happen. Definitely a destructive addiction!

I'm kind of really rooting for a happy ending with this fic, but I have a sinking feeling that God's not going to just suddenly see reason because some angry little girl gives Him an earful. I mean, shit, if it were THAT easy!

Exactly. I guess if they feel they're too good for fluff, they don't have to read it. They can judge all they want, but I like my fluff.

Oh man, I read the BEST little two-shot last night! Girl, if you like some happy endings and you need a little sweetness at the bottom of the angst pie, read Sfortuna's Louder Than Thunder . She writes Audrey so well, very likably, and while there's trouble, there's redemption and fearless love. And it's funny, too. C: And I kind of want to draw something for ittt...

If you heard some strange noise that sounded like a girly squeal, that was probably me. That little two-shot just made my day. Halfway through the first chapter, I couldn't breathe at ALL. This is just what I needed, thank you so very much for recommending it!!!! If you draw something for it, I will write to dA and ask them to make it so I could favorite it a hundred-million-bajillion times over!!!

Ha ha! Well, I've started on a comic (even though I swore off comics) about Gabe and Audrey headed out to forage in a Target. It's already making me laugh, so hopefully it'll be good. But oh my God, yes, that story made me so happy! I had to get up and put on some Motown and dance. Imagining Audrey trying to cajole him into dancing is so awesome. Can't see him giving in, but it's fun to try!

I love that story so much, I reread it again and it just... is definitely some feel good fluff right there.
In fact, I have to have my first chapter finished by Tuesday, and up until I read that story, I've been stuck. This afternoon, I busted out three pages.
