So I broke down and watched Legend, and that same night had a vividly romantic dream about Tim Curry as Darkness. As you do. I can't be the only good girl who has a crush on the devil, can I?I didn't care for the movie aside from Darkness, and was especially put off by the character Lily, so I wondered who would be appropriate to pair with His Evilness. Saint Agape (of Barbucci & Canepa's Sky Doll) just kind of inserted herself, and she's perfect. She's an embodiment of goodness and sacrifice, of sensuality and a pure heart -- and they still have things in common. If Darkness is going to fall in love with someone, I want it to cripple him. I want him to be completely defeated by her. I want him to give in. That's what good love does to you.
I would almost guarantee that these two have never been drawn on the same paper together. I also almost guarantee (less confidently) that this is the last time I'll be drawing Darkness. But I said that about Bowie, so. You never know.

also...john denver's "All This Joy" very nearly made me cry while i looked at this...for a Devil, a creature so cruel to have a gentle lamb to love him after a hard day of being evil...i've always liked those kinds of tales ~shrugs~

Totally. I think most women are drawn to stories of love being the ultimate weapon. Like, he may be the most solid force of evil in the universe, but he's still vulnerable to his own heart. That's the ace of the cosmos.
Oh man, let me tell you... I started drawing from memory, and then I went back and looked at photos, and I was way off on so many things, and had to fix them. Like how his cheekbones sort of connect to his horns. And I drew his horns way too small at first -- which I expected, but I didn't think they were THAT huge. Ha ha!

bleh, anytime i try to draw horns or antlers they always come out looking like demented trees or like narwhal faces XD
honestly, i think you should do one or two more of Lily and the Darkness...if only because its awesome (and great practice for the cheekbones and horns) and tom cruise scares me, even as a young kid >.> ~hides under a rock~

I agree about Lily, she really didn't portray "innocence" all that well. I'm glad you replaced her for Darkness' love and sake.
The portray of breaking him down and having him "fall in love" is very fascinating in this piece. I'm really not sure of the character that you're talking about [maybe because I've never heard of her], but I will trust your judgement.
Beautiful design of the crown, very beautiful and discriptive of their love.

The saint Agape is like, this banned religious figure in the story of Sky Doll, who had been martyred. She represented the most pure elements of our beautiful humanity. At least, that's the impression I got.

That's the impression I recieved from the film, as well. In my opinion, I felt that she wasn't needed in the story. There was actually a moment where I forgot she was even in it the last time I watched it, which was kind of bad on my part, lol.

Honestly, I'm not so much for Tim Curry. Just listening to his voice is a venerial sin, but it's not so much sexy as the Connery. Sean Connery is sex and whiskey, in approximately equal amounts. But not Bond Connery, he's creepy. Entrapment Connery. He could so have gotten Z-Jones. And while I love Rickman as an actor, he's more droll. I'd have to tag him out with Sean-Patrick Flannery.
