Description So I broke down and watched Legend, and that same night had a vividly romantic dream about Tim Curry as Darkness. As you do. I can't be the only good girl who has a crush on the devil, can I?

I didn't care for the movie aside from Darkness, and was especially put off by the character Lily, so I wondered who would be appropriate to pair with His Evilness. Saint Agape (of Barbucci & Canepa's Sky Doll) just kind of inserted herself, and she's perfect. She's an embodiment of goodness and sacrifice, of sensuality and a pure heart -- and they still have things in common. If Darkness is going to fall in love with someone, I want it to cripple him. I want him to be completely defeated by her. I want him to give in. That's what good love does to you.

I would almost guarantee that these two have never been drawn on the same paper together. I also almost guarantee (less confidently) that this is the last time I'll be drawing Darkness. But I said that about Bowie, so. You never know.

LOL Your right Tim Curry was the greatest, but mucklebones's character to me was more frightening when I was a kid. And hey they did a hell of a job with that rubber and slime. Lol. And if I'm not mistaken dude played her voice.

Absolutely stunning.
I don't know who the girl is, but Darkness has always been in the top of my favorite sexy villains, with Jareth, of course. I am interested in the way you say "I want it to cripple him. I want him to be completely defeated by her. I want him to give in. That's what good love does to you."
I totally agree, I think that those kind of relationships are the most dynamic and heart-wrenching and with the most blood, sweat, and tears. Beauty and the Beast is one of the prime examples and it's my favorite story of all.
Bravo

It's very much a beauty-and-the-beast type story. Except poor Darkness never gets redemption. And neither does Jareth! You have to give them time, girls. ^_^

That crown is magnificent. Those whole thing is composed beautifully, and the warm color scheme is so fitting, but I have to admit the crown and heart resonate a lot with me.

I'm glad. I've been really enamored with crowns and hearts lately. Their symbolism is so profound.

Yeah, Darkness was pretty much the only thing I liked about that movie. (Tom Cruise in a gold chainmail mini-dress?!?!?! WTF?)

What is it with women being attracted to bad guys? Because we think we can change them, or because we want a little danger? Maybe the power trip of taming them? "All he needs is the love of a good woman." Man, if I had a fiver for every time I heard that . . .

Beautiful, as always.

I think you hit the nail. In theory, I like the idea of a good heart inspiring a bad one to change. In practice? I know I just like being the yin to a bad boy's yang. ;D

So few can truly portray the devil so sensualy and naturaly than than curry.
I knew my intrests in characters went to far when i saw him as a young teen. (Ive gone for hot and evil ever since.)
He and Jareth are my ultimate favorite evil-sexy villains.
In fact, other than a stamp or two, i made this lovely group to use...
=
and just because hes amusing, i made drfranknfurterplz, but the top two are my prefered for staring at.

You could say "Horns make me horny."

Legend is a beautiful movie. The whole film has symbolisim and morals to tell of fantasy, love and fear, death and life, light and darkness.

Hell, I too have had dreams of him. He's definitely a figure of 'forbidden fruit' and evil, simply looking at you seduces you to the dark side of life.

This picture makes perfect sense. If only I could see more Darkness art from you...the film has so much to delve into, it's theme's and motifs that some I haven't even fully found to understand!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lily-fox In reply to Sahkmet [2008-12-11 01:56:43 +0000 UTC]

I thought the whole film would have worked nicely as a book, but it was so... a friend used the word "nonlinear", and I kind of agree. It was very confusing, and I felt a lot of the characters were contrived. (All the woodland elves and dwarves' chipmunky little voices? Really? And glitter on EVERYTHING?) I felt like the story threw a bunch of characters at us and figured we'd assume they were worthy or unworthy based on stereotypical visual cues.

Some of the scenes were total magic, though. The goblins stalking the unicorns through a shower of flower petals was gorgeous. I still have to say, after multiple viewings, that Tim Curry obvious steals the flick, with his subtlety and perfectly-dished outrage. He's exactly what was intended for the character. The devil, after all, ought to be sexy, or it wouldn't be much of a moral triumph to resist him, would it?

Sahkmet In reply to lily-fox [2008-12-11 02:08:50 +0000 UTC]

As I said, it's a bunch of symbols and glitter thrown at us. Fantasy setting to attract money because it was the Fantasy Film craze at the time, so it is very, well, kinda messed up in a way. Which is why people relaly see it as a fantasy film, while it is AND something more than a fantasy-fairy-Satan storyline. They used Tim Curry in a Christian sterotype of Satan as a being, set in a world that feels devoid of Christian society, to get the point across. That makes it way awesome.

Indeed, sexiness is key. Red hot flaming muscles? Big horns? the fact it's Tim Curry, with some sexually-suggested lines? Oh yes he IS the show. And he definitely wants to be in your little dragon-pelt pants...for a price of course, such as making you evil like him.

Well I do think I can trust your sense of taste. I'll look it up sometime. I'm interested by this character at the very least. I agree with you about Lily's faulty personality when put next to our favorite devil. I figure she and Tom Cruise were a great match Crazy guy. Always gets me, how young he is in Legend, but I digress. I liked Lily; she served her purpose for the story well. I think we just hate to see Darkness fall thanks to her. In that sense, she does seem unworthy, huh? Anyone who appeals as a better candidate immediately has my attention.

Thanks for the reccomendation.
