I've been really impressed with some of the Toy Story fanmixes I've heard, and I wanted to make one of my own to share. This all came together pretty quickly. I wanted to make up a nice cover for it, a nod to the Gorillaz dub album Laika Come Home .You can download the music and front and back covers of the fanmix here .
I don't draw Buzz enough, and I find the more I do, the more I like him. He's an incredibly genuine character, totally selfless and without ego (once he made the Big Realization). He will do anything it takes to make sure everyone is safe and happy. He's the consummate chivalrous hero.
I can't imagine anyone who's ever been in space could not be totally humbled by the experience. I'm sure all cosmonauts have their moments of being paralyzed with awe. I was kind of going for that. Drawing glow-in-the-dark stuff is fun.

When I stand by the front door at work and hand out flyers, I can see a big Buzz Lightyear balloon tied to one of the kiosks across the store. I imagine him encouraging me when I feel crummy. "Buck up, soldier, you're doin' a good job!"

Laika Come Home is such a great album on many levels. Listening to Banana Baby is especially nice to go with your drawing.

haha I'm just givin' ya a hard time. Being a California native, I'm not sure if I would like Hawaii full-time or not. I'm more of a cold weather girl myself and the humidity would drive me crazy! I know you have fair skin, like me; how do you handle the sun there?

Such a wonderful piece as a whole. You really did capture that awe and wonder of what i can only imagine was Buzz's reaction to seeing the universe in it's entirety for the first time. The glow in the dark was definitely clever- and the details of the space map was wonderful. Awesome job! <3
