How to use #GetWatchers to increase your audience and get more exposure on your art
Lately I have received comments from users who believe that GetWatchers doesn't work. The thing is if you follow the instructions GetWatchers works perfectly for everyone, not only popular or advanced artists. To make it easier to understand HOW this tool works I created a little visual walkthrough. I hope it's helpful for some of you!
Instructions
Every time you clicked on the button your credits counter will go up by
When you have collected a nice amount of credits just relax and wait! Within a short time period other GW members will be directed to your art. If you use the Artworks Viewer a lot you will receive notably more views, favs and comments on your art than before. So don‘t hesitate to get your GetWatchers account and try it out!

FAQ What is GetWatchers ?
GetWatchers is a tool based on the give and get principle that helps you to get more attention on your art and find new favourite artists. The tool makes it possible to get almost as much views on your art as you have given before on other people‘s art. For 10 views that you have given you will receive 7 views in return. If you have faved a work or added someone to your watch you can click on the red heart button and you even will receive extra gift credits ranging from 3 to 10 points.
Please Note: it‘s not necessary to become a member of the DeviantART group of the same name! Isn't that cheating if you seek for attention that way?
Every artwork needs a bit of advertising, even the very good ones. How will you get out your art to the community if you just sit and wait and don't do anything for it? If your visitors don't like your art they won't fav or comment anyway and go away. But if they do they will be happy to have found you via this awesome tool. What are the criteria for submissions?
- Only finished artwork
- Only high quality work
- NO Pornographic Content
- NO Extreme Violence & Horror
The credits you have available will be attributed automatically by the system. If you have a large number of unused credits it's probably because you've seen a lot of artworks. Simply give it time, then, during the week, the credits will be used to give you views. Also, if you don't receive your views please check your url twice by clicking "Verify artwork" button.

That's because some people browse privately. Their views of your art do not get counted.

I love the way that this counter works and how it helps people be noticed by randomization. The only problem I seem to have is the counter likes to reset randomly while being used and I'm not sure if that ends up affecting how often people are viewed.

Thank you so much! I was quite worried it was something... sinister.
Instead it's just something really awesome!

As long as you submit your poetry as "deviation" all is fine.

Nice tutorial buddy. One thing. Are compiled works allowed? Like Windows 7 Themes?
You can see them in my gallery...

Why not? If they are submitted as "deviation".

Well, original free downloads are on my blog, but their screens are uploaded as deviations here and linked back.....
That ok?

Sounds nice. Good idea and well planned out.
But, can you advertise other peoples artwork? (With permission)

Not allowed. You can expose your own works only.

This looks really interesting! It's the first time I've heard of it, too. I might just try it out!
A question, though--from your descriptions it seems to be geared mainly towards visual art (as opposed to, say, writing), and a quick look at the site gives the same impression. Is it just less common to submit writing, or is it just for visual arts (or maybe there's a whole other sit for writing, I certainly don't know).
I'd be using it for photos and not writing anyway probably, but just wondering.

Writing is probably less common but you can submit whatever you want.

Thank you for this, I bet it will help a lot.
However, your group says 1 deviation per day, but here it says "you can expose 10 artworks of your choice", and that is confusing me. If it doesn't trouble you, can you please explain that a little?

You are talking about two different things: one is the GetWatchers group on DeviantART, the other one is the GetWatchers tool that is hosted outside of DA.
DA Group: #GetWatchers
Tool: getwatchers.com

You have more people invited than me (though I don't see a link to GW on your profile). Wow, and you never pushed the Art Viewer button.

What do they mean by only "high quality" work? What qualifies as 'high quality'?

Thanks for the info, I made an attempt of using the viewer once but got scared off again. I`m using it now and I like it, it`s different from the random deviation button in the sense that most people who use the viewer are actually active. I like it

This was a very easy tutorial. I had no problem what so ever. And I like this tool because you can find more new and good art with just one click, also you'll be able to get critic on your work and get to know more people around. Thanks again for teaching us what is GetWatchers!.

I tried this out the other day and it was neat, saw a few things I liked etc. It would be cool if you could tell it what you like. A targeted audience would be better for everyone. Afterall, why waste a view on someone who specifically does not like the medium you used?

At the bottom of the Artworks Viewer you have your Art Viewer Preferences where you can select what kind of art you would like to see in priority.

i might use it to promote my comic.
im just worried if it'll make me look desperate.
do u guys think it will. i believe in the traditional way of getting views. thats why im a little worried..
any one can answer this?...
btw. i did go on there and i supported ppl...the good ones that is. >.>'

K3lit0 In reply to Chrissy-Christine [2010-07-28 04:00:48 +0000 UTC]
I don't think it'll make you look desperate. There's nothing wrong with posting on thumbshare saying comment for comment, asking for critique etc... this is the same thing, but even more honest because all you're agreeing to do is take a look and if you like it you decide if you want to fav/comment/watch etc... the people viewing your art are doing the same.
I don't think there's anything morally questionable about it. I don't even think views count towards the 'popularity' stat.
