i meant to submit this like a month ago, but it just slipped the ol' mind.here's beast boy looking at a picture of little garfield and his 'rents
i imagine he still thinks of them sometimes... oh the sadnessss

In the Teen Titans Go! comic (#45 Title: Secret Origins) Beast Boy says that his parents died in a flood and Beast Boy was the only one who could escape (by changing into a bird)
In the older Comics, Beast Boy and his parents were on a boat and they went over a waterfall. (His dad told him to save himself by changing into a bird)
In the Young Justice version, its unknown about his dad but his mom was raising him in Africa on a reservation and one day his mom had a car accident and drove off a waterfall??? (that was in the flash backs he had. But WTF was she driving on a waterfall for? lol)
Not personally a fan of the Young Justice because they changed Beast Boy's ENTIRE Back story. Personal opinion: Teen Titans Beast Boy is the Best Beast Boy and the actor Greg Cipes is the only voice for him.

Yeah, I LOVE TT Beast Boy, Greg Cipes was EPIC! But this new BB is pretty cool too! And from what I understand, Queen Bee was responsible for his mother's death in the new series.

the only thing about BBs past that#s revealed in the show is that he was part of the Doom Patrol and that his real name is Garfield
as far as I know his parents died when their boat fell down a waterfall, BB got away as a bird, but couldn't save them

Nope no ep, at least not in tv series, dunno about the tv based comic series, but in the original comic his parents were world renowned biologists working in Africa I believe when they were killed. Mento and Elastigirl came later.

Oh sure. How did he become BB?

Okay, he started out at a young age in Africa. His parents were scientist, and then one day he got bit by this weird geen monkey. This gave him not super powers but a very deadly disease, and there was no cure. However, his parents had been studying a process of reverse evolution, it was a risky procedure. But if that didn't kill him then the disease would.
It worked, but as a side effect it made him green. Then one day he was playing outside while his mom hung the laundry and a black mamba was getting ready to strike her. Out of instinct he transformed in to a mongoose and went to town on it.

Well now the important thing to keep in mind is that Beast Boy wasn't always so good with his animals. So far he could only do small stuff, like a mongoose or a bird.
His parents went over a waterfall and all he could do was watch from above as a parrot.
Luckily his parents made friends with a nearby village and they took him, treated him like family. Of course not everybody was so warm about him, their witch doctor thought he was some kind of demon.
But his origin doesn't end there.

Yep. Then a couple of American thieves showed up looking to steal the treasure from a temple near by. The witch doctor said he'd give them the treasure, providing they killed BB. They agreed, but treasure first, inside the temple BB confronted them changing in to his first ever big animal, a leopard.
They got him in the shoulder with a bullet, after that a cave in happened killing the witch doctor.
Thinking they could use him for stealing, the thieves took the injured BB with them out of Africa. And that's how BB became the FBI's most wanted eight year old.

Eventually those two got killed by their greed and BB was actually sent to his God Parent. But all that God Parent did was look after his parents' money, he died too. Then he hooked up with the Doom Patrol. Then he tried school for a little while and he actually got a girlfriend, another blonde, guess he has a type lol. But her father was dead set against their relationship, to like violent levels, so they broke up because of that.
Then he was on tv at some point, some star trek rip off which didn't even last half a season.
And finally he hooked up with the Teen Titans.

This is the kinda thing I visualize in so many fan stories I've read. The more serious/tragic side to his otherwise happy and carefree persona. Nicely done.
