Description 36 x 18 Oil.....

The green ball came to me in a dream. I drew it during a couple visits to the car wash. I keep a sketch book in my car. a couple weeks later I had a vision of this painting except I couldn't come up with what was on the shelf. At that time, my daughter got a behind the seen tour at the Wild Animal Park. (It's who you know ), and she was able to encounter an armidillo. So I painted a three banded armidillo. Researching them, I could not decide to paint it fullly closed or let it peek out. While deciding, I out loud asked a photo of one. "Hmmmm, to orb or not to orb? " That created the title of the painting......

Wow, I love your art. I just started oil painting last semester in a class and it's really hard! I can't believe how clean you manage to make the objects in your picture. You're definitely an inspiration to me - most of the oil paintings we study in school are of abstract art, landscapes and figures, but I'm personally much more interested in animals. Keep up the good work - I'm going to keep an eye on your gallery, it's too gorgeous to walk away from. <3

I do a lot of layers and some glazing. And have a lot of patience. That helps. Thank you very much for your very nice comment! Wish you well in class and paint often!

I love that the clouds carry over into the wall. That's brilliant. Every little detail on the armadillo is perfectly realized. I love it.

This is so creative, your little armadillo is fantastic. I’m intrigued by how it all started out with a visit to the car wash and progressed to a vision and your daughter’s armadillo encounter. It’s almost magical how the creative processes work…

Nice imagery and composition. I have those moments now and again. Its odd how easily I seem to be able to transfer the image onto paper. Yet, most times I just find no reason to follow through with these 'visions' to complete them.

Glad you thought otherwise.
