It was shortly after the Stock Market Crash of '29, early on in the Great Depression. Businesses were going under left and right. The only business that seemed to remain strong is film making. Unfortunately, there weren't that many strong film makers.
Carl Denham was getting desperate. He had found a map to an uncharted island that no one had ever seen before. The appearance of this island in the movie would be spectacular and raise a lot of money...However, his producers weren't as...'adventurous' as Carl was...especially with their money. They killed the picture and scrapped the project...well they tried to.
Carl did indeed set sail for the island with the cast and crew. With no way to pay for the actors, the ship or the film itself, he only hope was that the movie would cover the expenses. However...he had no idea what he was getting himself into when he set sail for the island.
The island, shrouded in fog, was home to living Dinosaurs, huge insects and countless other creatures that would make anyone connected with the movie a millionaire! Unfortunately the film was destroyed...but Reckless Carl was never one to give up on anything. When they returned to New York...Carl had captured a great beast to showcase in the greatest show ever in History.
King Kong; the Eighth Wonder of the World!!!
Kong was a 25 foot Gorilla that lived on Skull Island. Anne Darrow (the leading Actress for Carl's movie) was sacrificed to the mighty Kong by the Tribal Natives of the island. Surprisingly, she managed to tame the beast and become friends with it. Kong seemed to form some kind of affection for her...which is why he was angered whenever she was in danger.
On the opening night of the King Kong Stage Show, Kong was angered and confused by his sudden abduction. The flashing lights irritated him and caused him to go completely wild, breaking from his bonds. Kong then went on a Rampage to find Anne. Now since Kong had so far been as tamed as Anne could tame him, he didn't cause as much destruction as you'd think he could. The mild destruction and panic stopped when he finally found Anne in a hotel and pulled her out through the window. (Although surviving eye witnesses claim that Anne went to him in the streets to calm the wild beast down.)
Regardless, in order to escape the military with Anne in his paw, Kong climbed to the top of the Empire State Building. Once at the top, he was shot down by Biplanes and plummeted to his death on the streets below...
