The highlands of Iceland offer truly spectacular landscapes, which are really picturesque due to their colours and structures. On the right side you can see the lake Frostastaðavatn, into which the lava field Námshraun runs. The crater Stútur rises strikingly from the lava field Norðurnámshraun in the middle of the panorama. A folk tale tells of a farm near the lake shore where the inhabitants ate hairy fish from the lake. The consumption ultimately cost the inhabitants their lives. Meanwhile, fish are again caught in the lake and offered for sale. As far as we know, there were no hairy ones underneath.

Nobody knows that. It's a legend.
I guess it was an asteroid that crashed into the lake. With it, an alien liquid entered the lake, which caused the fish to mutate.
