Bologna. It is only OBVIOUS that is was staged, COME ON! Look at the guy on the truck. Let's get real here, what cop is going to pose on a truck like that if it was NOT staged? Exactly!

Isn't that kinda rude? Why not just let people enjoy things instead of running up to them and ruining it by telling them that it's fake. It shouldn't matter if it's real or fake. It's art. And whether it was the right DD to be chosen or not doesn't give you the right to ruin it for the rest of us. ): I'm not saying HAY YOUR OPINION SUCKS because everyone's entitled to your own- but why not keep it to yourself or other people who feel the same way.

PeacefulSoul In reply to dinowrawr [2009-04-25 21:52:57 +0000 UTC]
Because, critique is for the better. The woman especially is too up tight in the shot and I made the suggestion to make it more natural-looking next time. Everyone is entitled to say or critique on what they want -- REGARDLESS what the rules say on D.A. about DD's!
I, and I am sure a number of other people, don't care about rules and regulation all the time because some are ridiculous. I'm not going to STOP what I am doing for someone else on here. If I want to critique, damnit I am going to critique!
And you know what, I think your OPINION about MY opinion SUCKS! How do you like the taste of that edge? I didn't think so.

You don't have to be a total douchebag..
Which.. you were doing in the first place. The only reason I even said anything was because I saw that you were trolling all over the first page of comments that came up.
You can get as defensive as you want- the artist didn't ask for yours or anyone else's critique, therefore- you shooting down their piece just comes off as harassing to others and possibly them.
Critiquing is a helpful thing-- when people request it. It's not just closed off to subscribers anymore, so no one is missing out.
I can agree that the woman looks out of place- but you really are ruining it for the people who A. Don't see it B. Don't care and they like to enjoy what was trying to be created if it was being created at all.
I'm sure I'm not the only one trying to talk a little sense to you- and I'm sure that's probably one of the reasons that you're uptight about this- but why not just leave it alone? No one is trying to pick a fight- just restore the order.

Some may not care about what I see in the picture (me being an Art critic) nor may they catch on, but I am not getting on an offense. What I AM doing is standing my ground on what I like to do (maybe not in the nicest of way) and will CONTINUE doing it and that is: critique. Whether you or anyone else likes it or not!
I deal with critique every damn day and other Artists these days need to get over their dislike of critique because they are going to get a LOT of it as they go. I do not care if you are William Shakespeare or the Pope, ok?
That is that. And the reason I got ticked the way I did is because someone wanted to challenge me, like you, to prove something to an Art critic who already KNOWS his stuff. I am a VERY bold and can be mean Art critic, but I ASSURE you that those who have hated me because of it thanked me later!

dinowrawr In reply to PeacefulSoul [2009-04-26 01:04:44 +0000 UTC]
I think you're missing the point.
The entire reason I even replied to one of your comments is because no one asked for your critique.
I understand your point of view-- and I also understand that you think that you're in the right. You're standing up for something that no one is targeting you for.
On the comment box, if your critique is needed, it will say "critique requested". This time, it didn't say such a thing. When giving a critique when that comment box is turned onto the default box, you're jumping into a world of uh-ohs. You have no idea if you're going to hurt the artist's feelings, offend them or if they'll be okay with it. That's why the option is there on whether or not to turn critique off. Now, if you were to come into my gallery and tell me everything that was wrong with my art, I would get a bit huffy- and possibly turn all comments off until you got the point. I don't like, nor have I ever liked critique unless I've asked someone for it. It offends a person like me. I'm not the only one out there.
It does baffle me how you're getting defensive over something that I apparently am not doing to you. I'm not challenging your critiquing skills, nor have I ever in the entire debate that we've gone through. Talk about stuffing words into someone's mouth huh?

As soon as I read the third line, I said to myself, "Forget it."
I already see where the Hell this is going. RIGHT back to square ONE!
I KNOW NO ONE ASKED FOR IT, BUT IT DOES NOT HURT NO MATTER IF THEY DO OR NOT!
Sometimes I cannot STAND this day in time because people today are more bone-headed than ANYTHING I have ever witnessed!
CRITIQUE DOES NOT HURT, OK? AND ANY COLLEGE PROFESSOR OR PERSON WITH A SENSE OF HEAD WILL TELL YOU THAT.
Any response you make upon this will be OMITTED.
GOODBYE! I am through arguing with you stupid people.

Finally. X.x'
And the hilarity of this all was that "square one" was the problem in the first place- you just kept going and getting farther away from the point- which was that.
Speaking of boneheaded- take a look in the mirror. You are the most stubborn person I've ever spoken to-- and I've held conversations with a lot of people.

No you are the most stubborn. Bottom line is, I do not care what you say, think (I am sure you are the same about me) and whether you say the Artist DID or DID NOT ask for a critique, I GIVE critique ALL the time regardless what ANYONE says!
You keep saying they did not ASK for it. I KNOW THAT. Regardless, I give it ANYWAYS!
Why don't you take a damn look in the mirror here!

I can screen shot just one person that has posted Notes in my comments. I have already taken care of my other customers, but I will give you an example with just ONE person alone. I deal with a TON of notes. SO MUCH that each page is the one you are about to see. It would take more than a 100 pages of submition to prove my point to the fullest.
SO, the best I can do is screen shot and show you an example, ok?

But that's not what I asked for- just because you're done with them doesn't mean that you've lost all record of what has gone down in the past with your critiquing. For all I know- and I'm not accusing you of it- is that you're just saying that so you can be in the right.
And you do realize that the artistic way is always growing- you can never ever be done "helping" someone if that were the situation..
People grow and progress by themselves if you let them.
Do you ever get people that don't answer you or just tell you to get out or shut up? Those are the people that you're bothering. : /

And no I do not get people like that. And no duh, I know that people progress, but the way to progressing is to teach or heads-up someone, help them about something and say, "HEY . . " and let them know.
Not everyone can be helped, but I try.

I was through arguing with you a LONG time ago. However, now since you want to continue, let us continue! For the thirtieth time, how many times do I have to state that this picture is still not natural looking and looks, keyword looks like a staged shot?
I do not care if 1,000,000,000 people were there. Maybe I did not get my point clear enough so let me clarify. There is a difference between me saying it looks staged and that it IS staged (I know I wrote that). What I meant to say was that it looks as if staged. I am sorry if there was any confusion here, all right.
All I have been trying to state this whole time is that the photo does not look natural. I am tired of arguing about this, truly, and I am definitely sure you are as well!
One more thing I want to state, is that I am NOT going against the suggestor who made this a Daily Deviation. All I did was say that the next shot he/she takes should look a bit more natural! I KNOW I did not say it in the nicest of ways, but that is how I am.
So let us end this charade because it is really getting old and ridiculous . . .

All I am simply saying is that it is not a natural looking photo, for the 20th time. Why should I chill out if the person I had a dispute with is trying to say it was a natural taken photo?
If the Artist cannot take my suggestion in taking a more natural photo, next time, then he/she can forget about art because I deal with critique EVERY day! I know, good for me. I am not going to let my guard down against someone who does not know what they are talking about saying this is a natural looking photo.
Sorry.

Apparently you do care because you keep arguing with me and calling everyone else blind because they don't agree with you. For one, you cant even see everyones faces, half are blurred out. secondly, did you think maybe the cop is trying to get a better view of the riot at hand?
If you think the background is staged, go ahead, because I know you're wrong. If some guy was taking a picture of two people in the middle of the street suckin face, I'd be lookin too.
"Learn how to observe art before correcting anotherr person upon their comment!" ummm, can we say hypocrite? you just tried to correct me on my comment when I was just telling someone what the picture is of. It's a riot. In minnesota. At the RNC. It happened. look it up.
Maybe eh asked them to kiss so he could take a picture? That's believable. but don't tell me I'm absurd to think the background is real when he's taken plenty of other photos AT THE SAME RIOT.
Now I'm done arguing with you, because neither you nor anyone else will change my mind on this.

PeacefulSoul In reply to KrystalTrinity [2009-04-25 18:29:43 +0000 UTC]

PeacefulSoul In reply to KrystalTrinity [2009-04-25 18:23:48 +0000 UTC]
Listen, the background (if you knew a damn thing about photography) is blurred out because the FOCUS is on the two people NOT the cops.
Whereas they might be blurred and you cannot see their faces, it is STILL obvious they they are ALL trying their damnest for the photo -- EVEN the guy on the very right hand side peaking his way in.
Secondly, name a reason WHY the cop is standing on the truck. O' to get a better view? First off, he would have had to of had TIME to speak to the photographer suggesting that he get on the truck for the shot. A natural picture does not wait for a guy to clime on a truck just to see the two people, ok?
And of course he asked the two to kiss for the picture, but it is not a natural shot/kiss, and NEITHER is the background setup. In other words, you are not going to get a shot like this unless it was setup out of the BLUE!

stephenAndrew In reply to PeacefulSoul [2009-04-25 21:21:06 +0000 UTC]
the cop was trying to acquire a similar position to a guard tower etc. that officer is likely a higher up IC and crucial to running the Law Enforcement of the riot, that officer needs a better view due to his particular duties.
easily explainable. the riot was not staged.
