eating disorders are either a result of depression or depression is a result of ED. a lot of the time they were picked on for their weight or issues at home become too much to handle so they turn to their ED as an escape, it's something they can control. they literally FEAR gaining weight. some of them would rather die than be "fat". eating for them is about control, and recovery is a daily struggle.

Maybe it's just my ego talking, but I just can't seem to fathom how someone would starve themselves just to be "pretty." Do they honestly think beauty is vomiting and seeing bones? To me, life is more important than conformity, comfort is more important than beauty. An eating disorter? Please. I think they should find another way to get attention (seeing as that's usually all they want).

yes, some people are that sick. sometimes it is about attention but you don't end up dying from malnutrition and other difficulties caused by ED just because you want a little attention. it's called a disorder for a reason, it's mental. often these people are mentally unstable, put on suicide watch, they self-harm. I don't know, I just have a certain empathy for people like this because I know what those feelings are like.

I'm very much aware of that, it's just that I fail to see why they think vomiting, refusing food, and seeing bones is "beautiful." I'd rather be fat than dying of hunger.

Oh I take your point, but that's because you have a strong character. These people most of the times are weak in spirt and convictions, so that's why they're easily manipulated into believing if they're not boned shaped they're not beautiful.
