I wouldn't say this has any eeriness to it, but it -is- definitely mysterious. Very psychological, actually. When I read 'subtle horror', I actually thought: Claudia from Interview with the Vampire, the film, reference which was classified as 'horror' without it really being scary, except that that one jump scene.

I understand it wasn't part of the inspiration for this work but she reminds me a little of the child vampire that Kirsten Dunst played in the film Interview with a Vampire. [link] It's just what sprung to mind when I saw this and the title sort of works with that character as well since she was an adult trapped for eternity in a child's body.

I checked the inspiration and is was a bit creepy; so lifelike and so lifeless. Your creation, at first glance, is a lovely girl wearing a rather adult evening gown. Looking closely, I find her face has all the animation of the doll she is holding. What it all means, I have no idea. Beautiful variations of the one color. She is like the end or the beginning of a good ghost story.

Well she is actually a young adult, but still childlike in dress and manner. Therein lies the irony, she is stuck in her youth.

This is beautiful, and yet so sad at the same time. It reminds me of when you are younger and try and dress up and look exactly like your idols/or dolls because that is what you think is so beautiful despite actually being well below their age. I don't know if my rambling made even the slightest sense, but I really adore this piece.
