Captain Brick, commander of the 24th Zero Squadron crouched silently from his hiding place, his eyes trained down the sights of his prized rifle. In the distance he could see the enemy approach, the markings on their robes showing their allegiance to the hated Fire Legion. The Frost Legion officer scowled, sizing them up. His finger tightened slightly on the trigger of his gun, Cryolator, but he held off from firing. The Flame Legion soldiers were entering a choke point. Captain Brick took notice of how they slowed their progress, moving cautiously as though expecting an attack. Suddenly the ground in front of them kicked up in a puff of dirt, and a small device sprang into the air. It hovered for the briefest of seconds, eye level with the lead soldier, and then exploded. Blue-white smoke expanded rapidly, the WHOMP that echoed about easily heard by Brick. The Captain smiled as the smoke cleared. Four of the five Flame Legion troopers were frozen, each encased in their own jagged block of ice. The fifth soldier turned, taking three steps before Brick casually fired Cryolator. The shot struck home. The legionnaire stumbled, the mass reactive shell detonating against his back. Ice spread rapidly from the wound, crystallized blood shattering against the ground. Within moments the soldier was frozen. Captain Brick smiled, knowing his superiors would be pleased to hear the success of his new frost shells and Frozen Betty mines. Brick stood up and headed back to base. With inventions like these issued to the troops of the Frost Legion, the civil war would soon come to an appropriate end...
