Description
Steel sat down in the clearing with his back against a tree. He slowly stretched out his bionic right arm and wiggled his fingers. Everything felt OK, but in the couple of days since he's abortive attempt to break into a Dark Egg Legion compound, he had been unable to restore his weapon systems. A Legionnaire by the name of June-La had disabled them, something Steel had thought impossible. He opened a small panel in his arm and began to poke around inside. Steel was so engrossed that he failed to notice the figure come up on him. A soft, polite cough brought him back to his senses. Speak of the Devil. Standing above him was June-La. She stood with on hand on a shapely hip, and her bionic one pointing at him. He noticed that her fingers looked strange. It was as if the tips had opened up. She seemed to read his mind.
"Digital lasers." She said with a smile. "You'll appreciate that I have you completely covered."
Steel considered his options. His right arm weapons were out of action, but he could still use his left ones. He tensed and looked her in the eyes. Steel sighed and relaxed. Scratch that idea. She could probably shoot him before he could move. Plus he suspected that she wasn't that stupid. She had most likely disabled ALL his weapons during their last encounter.
"Fine." He said as he slowly stood. "You have me. Now what?"
She smiled again, and Steel watched as she lowered her arm.
"Now we talk." She said. "There is something about you hedgehog. Something I can't quite place. You intrigue me."
June-La began to pace around Steel, and he felt like prey that had been caught be a superior predator.
"What is it about you?" June-La said. "Since our last meeting, I haven't been able to get you out of my mind. I find you... Fascinating. But in a way I can't seem to quantify."
She stopped in front of him, and looked at him intensely. Despite himself, Steel found he was lost in her green eyes. She stepped forward.
"Well hedgehog," She asked. "Why do I feel this way?"
June-La leaned in, and Steel was taken by surprise as she kissed him. He didn't notice the mechadendrites extend from her knuckles and wrap around his back to plug into his right arm. After a moment, June-La pulled back. She turned and walked away.
"We'll see each other again hedgehog." She said. "You can count on that."
She paused and looked over her shoulder.
"By the way, your weapons are back online."
With that, she left. Steel stood there stunned, still unsure of what had just happened.

June-La reached her APC and climbed in. As she started it up, she reflected on the kiss. Her tongue ran over her lips, she could still taste him. What had driven her to do that? Oh well, she'd figure it out eventually. For now though, there were other considerations. With a loving pat on the APC's controls, she headed home.
