Description
Three different versions of the US Army MP uniforms from WWII. Ike Jackets became popular among MPs due to them no longer having to wear their white belts with their uniforms. The only major difference between uniforms in the headwear. The overseas caps had gold and green pipping which is the two colors of the Army's Military Police Corps. The peaked cap is just a white version of the enlisted man's peaked cap which was a popular accessory but had to be bought by MPs as it wasn't standard issue. The white helmet is the most famous headwear of the Military Police and could be plain white or white with black letters.Credits to and

He was an MP? That seems to be the one area of the military my family hasn't been in. We have had run ins with them on several occasions though.

Yeah he was. It's a funny Story. When he enlisted he was sent to Kentucky for Field Artillery Basic Training. This was 1946, but the united states was technically still in world war two. He was scheduled to go to Airborne school but was tricked to Volunteer for a assignment. (I won't give away where he went until I post my post) he got in trouble with his CO and was assigned to the base fire department. The fire dept. Was handed over to civilians and he was assigned as a MP untill being mustered out of the Army in 1948.

My grandpa who was a Marine got into quite a few tussles with the USMC MPs and even the Army MPs once. If he'd spent as much time fighting the Vietnamese as he had the MPs and sailors, we probably would've won in Vietnam.
