Welcome to Dragon Ball .

We open on New Namek, where the Namekians are living their usual everyday lives, when the skies are eclipsed by a giant structure of liquid metal that is molding itself around the planet, absorbing its energy, it's the Big Gete Star. Dende, Earth's new guardian, senses what's transpiring on his planet and contacts Gohan to ask for help.

We cut to the Sacred World of the Kai, where Old Kai has just finished Gohan's ritual to unlock his full potential.

Old Kai
“There you go, the ritual is finished”.

Gohan
“Really? hm… I don't feel that different. How am I supposed to become this… ultimate warrior?”

Old Kai
“Well… you know how to become one of those Super Saiyans, don't you? … Why don't you try that? And believe in yourself”

Gohan
“I just have to become a Super Saiyan… and believe!”

Old Kai
“But, wait, maybe not here!...”

Gohan starts to power up as much as he can, his ki output is unbelievable, he sends Old Kai flying away, the entire World of the Kai shakes, Supreme Kai and Kibito can't believe the power Gohan possesses. Gohan has a lightning aura (even though he is not transformed in SSJ2). His power can be felt all the way to Earth, demonstrated by a cameo of Android 16, who senses Gohan's power level, and a cameo of Turles somewhere in space, his scouter explodes like every scouter does when it can't measure the power level, Turles is initially startled by it, but once he presumes it can only be Kakarot's son, he smiles and gets back at training. Gohan looks at his hand, still sparking.

Gohan
“Incredible… I feel awesome!”

Kibito
“Perfect. Gohan has ascended past his limitations”.

Supreme Kai
“His power is overwhelming. And he didn’t even have to go Super Saiyan”.

Old Kai (gets back up again after flying away)
“Hmph. Transforming isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Gohan had the power in him all along. Anyway, where is the other kid?”

Gohan
“Trunks? Dende said Namek was possibly in danger, so I sent him to make sure everything was okay”.

(Cue Fight it out!)

Hours later.

Gohan
“Trunks hasn't made any contact yet, I’m going to make sure he is fine. Kai Kai”.

Gohan teleports to a planet nearby New Namek to assess the situation, that’s when he sees the Big Gete Star, it has covered over half of the planet.

Gohan
"What is that?”

On Namek, we see that an army of robots have enslaved the Namekians, whom they plan to use as biological fuel for the Big Gete Star. Gohan teleports to Earth, where he recruits Android 16 and then back to New Namek. Gohan demands that the robots leave peacefully or else they will be destroyed.

That’s when the robots make way for a shiny metal warrior to come forth. This metal warrior reveals himself to be Cooler. Gohan can’t believe Cooler is alive, Cooler admits he was severely burned by the Sun, but survived thanks to the Big Gete Star’s technology. Now he is back for revenge, he is going to destroy the Namekian race, which started his brother’s downfall (and consequently his own) and then, the saiyans and Earth. Gohan asks where Trunks is, and Cooler reveals the brat arrived sooner, but was easily captured, he’s aboard the Big Gete Star, being prepared to be consumed by the ship. Gohan is furious.

Gohan (looks at Android 16)
“I made the right call in bringing you along”.

Android 16 nods

Gohan
“All right, I’ll fight Cooler. 16, think you can manage these robots and find Trunks?”

Android 16
“Leave it to me”.

Android 16 engages the robots, while Gohan fights Meta-Cooler alone. Gohan takes the battle away from the Namekians, which Meta-Cooler seemingly plays along. During the fight, Gohan uses a ki attack that explodes Meta-Cooler’s arm. Gohan smiles, but his victory is short-lived, as Meta-Cooler’s arm regenerates. Cooler reveals that the Big Gete Star constantly monitors his body, and fixes any problems that may occur, remedying it and enhancing it in such a way that it can’t happen the same way twice. Gohan tries to think of a strategy, but Cooler is faster now, he grabs him by the throat and starts to strangle him. Gohan powers up to his limits, which shatters both of Cooler’s arms, he unleashes a devastating attack, which destroys the Meta-Cooler.

Before Gohan can celebrate, an army of Meta-Coolers appear everywhere surrounding him. Outnumbered, Gohan is captured and transported to the Big Gete Star.

Android 16 managed to get inside the ship and freed the captured Namekians. He eventually finds and frees Trunks (who was in suspended animation).

Gohan wakes up tied and connected to some wires, unable to move.

Meta-Cooler
“Welcome to the Big Gete Star, Saiyan.”

Gohan
“C-Cooler! Where are you?”

Meta-Cooler
“Right in front of you”.

Gohan
“What?”

Gohan can only see a blue glowing core

Meta-Cooler
"Eons ago, there was a computer chip adrift among ships and satellites in a “graveyard”".

The blue glowing starts to fade, revealing a robot head that seems like an amalgamation of robot parts and Cooler’s head, this is the Meta-Cooler Core.

Meta-Cooler Core
“the chip assimilated everything around it. This “machine planet”, now able to consume other planets, is the Big Gete Star. I was fortunate enough that my remains were floating near it, and I was assimilated into the main computer. Becoming its heart, gaining control over it. I was able to regenerate my body, now I am Meta-Cooler. I’ll consume the saiyans incredible life energy, with it, I’ll raise an army of thousand Metal Super Saiyans. Ironic, the race responsible for the demise of the empire, will be the kickstart for its rebirth. You should feel honored, Saiyan”.

Meta-Cooler Core begins to drain Gohan’s energy. Gohan remembers that Old Kai has just recently released his full potential, there is a chance that it might be more than Cooler can handle Gohan powers up and he’s proven right. His energy is too much, is overheating Cooler’s computer.

Meta-Cooler Core
“It’s impossible, you can’t be this powerful”.

Many Meta-Coolers outside begin to explode due to overheating. There are a few inside the ship, but Android 16 and Trunks are taking care of them since they are in disarray and weakened.

All the wires and equipment near Gohan explode and he falls to the ground.

Meta-Cooler Core
“I have miscalculated… I had no idea a Super Saiyan’s life energy was so extraordinary”.

Trunks, Android 16 and the Namekians finally find Gohan.

Trunks
“Master Gohan!”

Gohan (trying to get up)
“Glad to see you are okay, Trunks. 16, take everyone out of here, I’ll join you as soon as I put an end to this.

Android 16
“Go--Gohan, what about you?”

Gohan
“Don’t worry, I’ll manage”

Several explosions occur on the ship, forcing the others to leave. Once everyone is outside, the ship starts to gain some altitude, too damaged to consume the planet.

Meta-Cooler Core
“This matters little, I--I just need to retreat for a moment, once I recover, I’ll be back”.

Gohan
“No, Cooler, you won’t”.

Meta-Cooler Core
“If you attack me, I’ll just detonate the Big Gete Star, taking the planet with me”.

Gohan
“I won’t let you do any more harm to these Namekians, Cooler. I’ll put an end to you”.

Gohan charges a Ki Burst Sphere, to try to stop him, Meta-Cooler Core takes on his giant battle form and grabs Gohan, squeezing him. Gohan manages to resist and teleports behind Cooler, firing the Ki Burst Sphere, obliterating Meta-Cooler Core.

The Big Gete Star exits New Namek's atmosphere and explodes. Gohan falls from the sky, crash landing near Trunks, Android 16 and the rest of the Namekians. Trunks heals Gohan back to health and the Namekians thank Gohan for saving their planet. Gohan smiles, saying he owns them for allowing Dende to become Earth’s new guardian. Everyone rejoices.

(Cue Dear Zarathustra).
