Daiz and Amond were talking to each other on Turles' ship, saying it was the right call to quit the Frieza force after Frieza was killed, we've never had this much fun, Amond says he heard Frieza's brother is in the middle of a war that has gone for years now, trying to fix that mess left when Cold and Frieza died. Daiz continues "Anyway, where are we heading?"
"To Kakarot's planet!"
"Are you crazy? He's gonna kill us."
That's when Turles appears interrupting them "Don't worry, he is dead".

(Cue Dragon Soul)

After the defeat of the androids by the hands of the hero of Earth, Mr. Satan, Orange City began it's reconstruction, now named Satan City after it's hero. But crime is not completely gone, we see a kind, bright, young police woman called Videl helping some people who lost their house during the destruction. While at the same time, some robbers entered a car after robbing a bank, driving full speed, causing mayhem. Officer Videl ordered them to stop, but the robbers kept driving at her full speed with the intention to run her over, she instinctively closed her eyes (everything fades to black). But then she opens her eyes, only to see that Gohan stopped the car with his foot, though she can't quite make out who it is, since Gohan was wearing shades, a kind of turban and was in ssj. Though Videl slightly remembers someone with a similar build fighting the androids.

Gohan (to Videl)
"Are you okay, officer?".

Videl (still in shock)
"Y--yes".

Gohan gets embarrassed by Videl staring at him.

Gohan
"W--well, since you are okay, I gotta go now. I'm sure you can take care of these guys… B--bye".

And Gohan flies away. Gohan picks his huge bag he left in an alley and keeps flying to his original destination. Trunks and Bulma are waiting for him, they decided to take a break after they defeat the androids and go camping. They asked Gohan why the big bag, to which he responded he was carrying a lot of books, to make up for the time he lost and pursue his dream to be a scholar. He was in the city buying some books. Later in the middle of that night, an unknown cosmic object heading towards Earth crash lands in the forest nearby.

The object that crashed reveals itself to be a probe and it scans the environment. The information is then relayed to Turles' ship, informing Earth has indeed a suitable soil for the Tree of Might to grow, a plant that sucks all of the nutrients out of the planet on which it was planted and leaves it a desert. We are shown that Gohan has moved back to his house, living with Chi-Chi and the Ox-King.

The band of aliens, having now arrived on Earth, plant the seed in the area which the probe had previously landed. It soon grows quickly into a tree of monstrous size, laying waste to a large portion of the area within its vicinity. Gohan sees the tree on the news, while also being informed it is causing massive earthquakes around the world. Gohan contacts Trunks and they both go to the tree's location. Bulma talks with Gohan over the radio while they are flying, informing she doesn't know what that tree is, but is not originally from Earth and according to the readings is currently draining the planet's nutrients; if it gets to the core, it will be catastrophic.

Before they can attack the tree, Gohan and Trunks are attacked by Turles' men, while he is watching it all from the ship.

Gohan and Trunks start the fight against Turles Crusher Corps, defeating Rasin and Lakasei without even having to transform, while they were fighting the others Turles takes an opportunity and attacks Gohan, getting him away from the battle and leaving Trunks to deal with the rest of the Crusher Corps. Turles introduces himself to Gohan and says he is also a saiyan, a pirate. To which Gohan also introduces himself (though Turles already knows who he is) and tells Turles to leave Earth at once. Turles ignores Gohan and they both prepare to fight.

Gohan powers up to SSJ, he can’t even touch Turles, who had revealed he ate the red fruit of the three, enhancing his strength. “strength...strength…” Gohan thought. That's when he transformed into the buff SSJ Third Grade and attacked Turles. But Gohan didn’t just use third grade, he used second grade for speed and third grade for power. Gohan started to land more and more punches on Turles, but he knew he’d have to defeat Turles as fast as possible as this constant change puts a heavy stress on the heart and body. After a few hits, Turles managed to gain some distance.

Turles
“You are surely stronger than your father, Gohan.”

Gohan
‘“That surprised you?”

Turles
“No, not at all, I’m delighted with that. For you see, usually we attack planets with a tree that produces a red fruit that enhances my strength. But after being used on many planets, exposing it to different atmospheres and radiations, it finally changed, producing a blue fruit. Imagine my astonishment, once I ate it, it granted me the ability to turn into a super saiyan.”

That’s when Turles takes one of these new blue fruits, he takes a bite and turns into a super saiyan very similar to Goku.
[he has a power on par with Goku’s SSJ grade 4]

Gohan is astonished by it, so much power, he was once again surpassed by Turles.

Turles
"You should join me, son of Kakarot. It won't take long for the tree to turn this planet into a barren wasteland. What is left here for you? Come with me, live like a true proud saiyan warrior."

But Gohan won't even entertain the idea, claiming he is an earthling and the fight goes on. Though it took a turn when Turles started to cough blood.

Turles
"I'm sorry, it seems I haven't fully mastered this form".

The transformation is taking a toll on Turles' body, he is panting and apparently not thinking straight. Gohan sees this and pleads to the warrior to stop, as he clearly needs medical attention. But Turles doesn't wanna hear it, he keeps attacking Gohan, but much slower than before, which gives Gohan the chance to dodge his attacks. Gohan tries to reason with Turles but to no avail. It doesn't take much and Turles falls on the ground, Gohan uses ki to try to kickstart his heart.
[Similar to Goku resurrecting Master Roshi during the TOP. Or when Piccolo did it to Gohan, when Frieza killed him.]

Turles coughs again, breathing, he knows Gohan brought him back, but his Saiyan pride won't let him be thankful. Gohan tells Turles to leave Earth, Turles now defeated, has no other choice, but to leave.

[Gohan is a pretty chill and merciful character, kinda like adult Goku, or maybe I should say even more than Goku. Top of my head I can only remember him killing Cell and the Cell Jrs, and even by then, it was only when Gohan had enough. I get the feeling they only kill when the enemy can't be reasoned with (like Kid Buu) or are just, you know, chaotic evil and have zero chance of switching sides (like Cell, Frieza and the future Androids). So I'll do my best to keep them in character.]

Trunks finally arrives after dealing with Turles' subordinates and asks Gohan if he's going to let Turles leave. To which Gohan tells Trunks he is already beaten, there is no use in putting him in jail or killing him. Trunks asks what if Turles comes back stronger, Gohan simply smiles, puts a hand on Trunks' shoulder and says "guess we'll just have to keep getting stronger then". Turles now seats on his ship, frustrated by his first defeat in many years, but smirking at the challenge of finally facing a strong opponent.

Gohan touches the tree, concentrating, feeling the ki flow through it, with that he is able to locate the tree's weak spot, Gohan fires a Kamehameha, while Trunks fires a Masenko, which causes the tree to burst, releasing the absorbed energy all over the planet and its living things.

[As a side note, Turles looks exactly like Goku, and I love stories that not only challenge a character physically, but also mentally (which got me excited to write the first opponents Gohan would face after the androids, to be Turles and Lord Slug, two villains that would remind him of his father figures). So I'd like to leave it open if Gohan spared Turles also due to that.]

(Cue Orange Hero)

During the credits, we see Gohan meditating peacefully near a waterfall.
