Phalanx man is a robot master created by doctor Edward Crypto using old relics that he has collected during his visit in Italy and Greece. When he was first introduced to the rest of the secret society, the other members were intrigued by such an ambitious projects, but their expectations were blown after the robot master started to speak in latin, so they immediately add him to their robot army, both because the incredible success of the project and because of Phalanx man’s tactical genius. They later realized that the robot could only speak in latin, making difficult for him to communicate with others. The only robots that can understand him are Book man, Pyramid man, Network man and Relic man, but Copper man he’s also trying to communicate with us. Apart from the communication problem, Phalanx man is a rather eccentric character: he firmly believe in the ancient Roman “mos maiurum” and he believes that he’s destined to one day participate in a glorious battle and go down in history. He always criticized the laziest robot masters, but they generally look at him with a confused expression while he shout at them in a dead language. Megaman will find Phalanx man in an ancient ruin in Italy. His stage is full of platforms that breaks under the player’s weight and spikes that come out and retract from the ground. Phalanx man boss room is quite peculiar: it will be two blocks high, just enough space to jump over Phalanx man when he charged at you. He will also throw his double javelins at you while he’s hiding behind his shield after a charge. He can only be hit from behind, so after you jump over him, start shooting. You can also use the lateral dodge move that I mentioned in my hypothetical megaman game/ fan game sketch to get behind him. After defeating him, you’ll get the weapon: Phalanx javelin. This weapon lets you throw a javelin that can stick to a surface that it hits so that it can be use as a temporary platform. This weapon also have a quite short range, but if you shoot it while jumping, it can still go quite far.
