Description You glanced at the clock nervously, checking the hour for the tenth time in just as many minutes.  You are at the flower shop waiting for Oliver Queen.  Shortly after receiving his flowers, you called him back and set a date for tonight at six.  It is now five.  You fidget.  He is going to pick you up here.  Will he not like you?  He's so rich.  Why would he want to date a flower girl? You rearrange a bouquet.
"(y/n)!"  Your boss called.  "You've arranged that bouquet fifteen times.  I don't think it's going to get any prettier."
You grimace.  "Sorry.  I'm just waiting for my date."
"Oooohh...You have a date?"  She questions eagerly.  You roll your eyes without her seeing.  She could be very nosy sometimes.  You supposed some old ladies had nothing better to do.
"Yup!" You reply quickly.  "I'm going out back to cut stems."  You rush out of the front room quickly, but not before you hear her chuckle.  You start to cut stems and quickly get lost in your task. There is no clock in the back room.
"(y/n)?"  A voice softly calls your name.  You jump a foot, completely engrossed in trimming roses.  You whip your head up and see Oliver Queen standing in the doorway.  He is wearing a grey wool coat that looks extremely expensive yet casual.  He's smiling at you.
For a second, you just stand there awkwardly.  You suddenly aren't prepared to see Oliver Queen.  His small smile and warm blue eyes catch you off guard.
"Sorry, your boss told me you would be back here.  I hope it's okay." He gestures out the door, refering to your boss.
You blink quickly and nod.  "Oh. Yeah.  Totally.  Sorry, you just snuck up on me.  You're really quiet," You explain quickly.
He chuckles.  "Yeah.  I get that a lot."  He shoots you a grin that seems to have some hidden meaning behind it.
You furrow your brow in confusion, but simply smile back.  "Okay, well,  I'm so sorry I lost track of time.  I just need to clean up here.  I can meet you up front if you don't mind waiting."
Oliver shrugs.  "I don't mind.  I actually came early, so that's my fault."  He gives you another smile and then turns to walk back to the front.
You watch the door for a second.  You breath out deeply, then rush to clean your area.  You meet Oliver out front.
"So, where are we going?" You ask.
"Well, since you specifically asked for nothing fancy, I thought we'd just go to a diner down the street.  It has really good burgers."
You grin, happy Oliver took your request to heart.  Many dates took you to a fancy restuarant anyway.  But you disliked upscale restaurants.  The prices made you cringe and you could never pronounce the meal titles.
"Great." You smile.  "If it's close, could we walk?"
"Sure."  He shoots you a grin and you both start to walk down the busy street.  It was drizzling earlier, so the sky is still cloudy and the pavement is wet, but the air is fresh.
You breath in and glance at Oliver.  Now would be a good a time as any to dive in.  "So, Oliver, what do you do for a living?"
Out of the corner of your eye, you see his mouth twitch in amusement.
"What? Oh, no.  Please don't tell me you're so rich you don't work." You groan.
Oliver laughs.  "No.  I do work.  I own Queen Consolidated."
Your eyes widen.  "Oh my god.  You really don't have to work."
"Well, I guess I could hire another CEO.  But I decided it would be best if the company was in my own hands."
You study him briefly for a minute.  You decide he must be a hard worker.  He has the look of someone who spends many late nights at the office.
"What about you?  You said you work in the flower shop for school?"  He asks.
"That's right.  I'm earning my masters in business.  I hope to own my own company someday.  I haven't quite decided what yet.  Maybe flowers." You shrug.
This time, Oliver is the one studying you.
"What?" You ask again.  His intense gaze makes you suddenly anxious.
He does that small smile of his that you have quickly come to love, and shakes his head.  "Nothing.  It's just refreshing to meet someone who is working to make their own company."
"Why?  Because you inherited yours?"  You ask bluntly.  You cringe.  "Sorry.  I didn't mean it like that."
"No, you're right.  I did inherit my own company."  Oliver shrugs again.  "My father was the one to build it."
"Oh." You stare at the ground littered with old gum.  "And did he retire?"
"He died."  Oliver says.  His voice sounds sad, but resigned, like he healed long ago.
"I'm sorry."  Is all you can say.
Silence consumes the rest of the walk, but it isn't awkward.  It's simply peaceful.
You finally make it to the diner.  You stare at the sign and then look at Oliver. "Big Belly Burger?" You laugh.
Oliver grins.  "They have excellent burgers."
You laugh again and you both walk in.  You sit at a table and the waitress takes your order.  It isn't long before your meal is place in front of you. Oliver is right.  The burgers are fantastic tasting.
You both chat during your meal about simple mundance things.  You feel your heart beat faster everytime he looks at you and smiles.
He doesn't act like a rich kid.  He acts like a mature man who appreciates what has been given to him.
You are completely entranced with Oliver Queen.
You both finish your meals and walk back to the flower shop where your cars are parked.
The walk back is less quiet, having discovered more topics to discuss.  He tells you stories about being CEO and you regade him with tales of ridiculous customers who come into the flower shop.  He laughs at all your stories, and nothing ever sounds forced.
You could get used to Oliver Queen.
You reach your car.  He had parked right next to you, a brand new looking car dwarfing your volkswagon.
You lean against your rear bumper and Oliver turns to face you.  He looks at you, eyes sparkling.
Suddenly, his smile fades and his gaze turns more intense.  Your mouth feels dry as you return his stare.
"I had a great time tonight."
"Me too.  Thank you, Oliver." His smile returns, the small one that he seems to have when he's really happy.
He leans forward and his lips meet yours.  Your eyes flutter closed and you return his kiss, moving away from your car and closer to him. His hands move to the sides of you face and he tilts your head to deepen the kiss.   You rest your hands on the front of his coat.  You sigh, utterly content. His kisses taste even better than the burgers.  Oliver pulls away and brushes his thumb across your cheek, your face still encased in his hands.  His hands feel rough and callused, but his movements are soft and sweet.  He gazes at you for a moment, then leans down and kisses your forehead.  "I'll call you," He murmers.  Then he backs away and turns to his car.
"Oliver?" You call.  He looks back.  "I do like roses."
He grins.  "I'll keep that in mind."
Then he gets into his car  and drives away into the night.  You lean against your car again and sigh contentedly, hardly able to wait until your next meeting with Oliver Queen.
