Ashes to ashesWe all fall down....
The original line drawing for the piece was done years ago, my guess is 2005-ish. Three years later I brought it to life. I hadn't expected it to turn out fantastic, I hadn't planned on it turning out at all. But after raping the paper with colored pencils it turned out better than I imagined it would. And now this current day with help from photoshop it has turned out even better than I thought possible.
I couldn't tell you what inspired me to draw this, due to its old nature but I'm sure you can manage your own ideas.
Done in permanent marker, liquid pens, watercolor pencils, and texture adding in photoshop.

wow - brilliant. Love the roots and the wood throughout the piece... it really ties everything, entertwining as roots do..she looks like she's hanging in the balance, letting the tug pull her in any direction it wishes.
