I've felt like this a bit lately….Based on a magazine illustration I did recently… changed it a bit and then painted in a bunch of stuff from my desk. Ignore the wildy inaccurate perspective work… it looked quirky and charming in my original sketch but now its starting to bother me...
Things to know.
• this is about the 7th or 8th time I've painted the plastic skull on my desk… and yes, I have a plastic skull on my desk.
• no, that isn't really me…. I have a goatee and don't dribble as much when I drink.
• painting multiple drinking cans is less fun than you might think.
• dinosaurs on the other hand are awesome!

Probably not...It was actually multiple sketches... there was the one for the magazine illustration which had a few different elements and then I sketched up the new stuff to make it into this particular picture. Kind of makes it confusing and I prefer to post sketches that have a more direct correlation with the finished product or have some kind of extra merit on their own.

Just curious, how big are the original pencil sketches when u do these?

Sketched on an A4 piece of paper, scanned in at around 400 dpi.
Just be careful though.. you know what curiosity did to the cat

*snickers* This is cute!!! All the little details really add to the overall image. I love
the little "feed me" post-it note on the skull... but considering the state of him-- a
skull-- I think food might be too little too late!
