Description
Day four of my own personal 'How fast is your spaceship?' week of scifi nerdiness. Today, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy...My favourite book as a kid and I could quote great slabs of it. While the movie was never going to match the book, I still rather enjoyed it and I felt the design work was fantastic.
The Heart of Gold, stolen by Zaphod Beeblebrox (he's just this guy you know) was powered by an Infinite Improbability Drive that, when fully powered, passed through every conceivable point in every conceivable universe simultaneously. This, unfortunately, means that you areΒ "never sure where you'll end up or even what species you'll be when they get there" and "it's therefore important to dress accordingly".
Pencil, ink on paper, Paint in photoshop.

Why do I feel as if Alan Rickman is sitting on my shoulder?
Amazing piece. Β My second favorite of the series, actually.

Alan Rickman AND Stephen Fry both voicing things in one movie.... what's not to love!! Okay, Marvin didn't love it, but he's always depressed and doesn't love anything
Stay groovy and don't forget your towel!

Damn RIGHT! (re the movie)
Loving this series - so much Loopy goodness, condensed into such a short time... We're not worthy!!
One sour note, though: I think you were a bit off with Freeman's likeness, here. Too bad - the guy is one of my favourite actors (9.5 on the Pegg scale)...

Thanks... as for Freeman, he's a tricky one to do. I'm a big fan of his too... I have to be, he's in the three big things from my childhood (Tolkien, Sherlock and Hitchhikers Guide)

Love it, Been a while since i saw the Movie adaptation, but I'm imagining the Guide speaking with Stephen Fry's voice, which is awesome regardless of if he was in fact Β the voice or notΒ

Thanks, and Mr Fry did indeed voice the Guide in the movie. He also did an 'audiobook' of the whole first book, which is fantastic!

Warhammer 40,000 is another good choice for scifi franchises to do one of these for, both because it's possible to calculate typical speeds from travel times, but also because the nature of warp travel in that setting means you get stuff like ships arriving at their destination before they left.

Loopydave In reply to A3Kitsune [2014-12-16 15:46:32 +0000 UTC]
Thats cool! I don't play or read Warhammer 40,000 which means I probably won't do a picture of it as I am unfamiliar with the details. Maybe I should look into just for fun anyway!\
