Modesty Blaise artwork for an upcoming issue of the Swedish comic book magazine 'Agent X-9', who were generous enough to let me post this early as a tribute to Modesty's creator, Peter O'Donnel, who passed away on the 3rd of May, aged 90.Pencil sketch on paper, painted in photoshop.

Just ran a google image search for those actresses. Hmmm yeah good possibles. Claudia certainly has the persona, sort of cool and aloof, based on her role in Farscape but I haven't seen her in Stargate. Never bothered watching that series. She'd be good but that tin opener nose would put me off believing her portrayal of Modesty.
Haven't seen anything of Andrea Parker. We don't get much TV here on the backside of the Moon. LOL!
I'm with you about getting any Modesty Blaise I can get when it's offered.
I have to say the girl on the cover of the paperbacks was an inspired casting See The Silver Mistress Pan Paperback 1975. (with the silver cover)

this is awesome. i remember my Pop sitting me on his knee, pulling out the Sunday paper, and reading the comics aloud as i'd look at the pictures... awesome art man!

wow and i thought i was only that was still a fan of Modesty - i always wanted to see her in SCUBA gear like in the movie or something simmiliar but no one has done that yet!

Cheers man! Always happy to find a fellow Modesty fan! The particular story this image is from a story called "Bad Suki" where there is a scuba scene - unfortunately Modesty and Willie have both already removed their diving gear - mostly because I didnt really have good reference for it

well all i can say is let me know when u need it the reference material i have everything at home from kirby morgan dive helmets (hats as they are more commonly called) to band masks to norm scuba to rebreathers - always happy to help esp if modesty and Willie are involved!
oh bit of goss for u, a mate who is working in NZ on the pre production of the new dam busters movie said David Tennant has joined the cast - he will play the role of F/L JV (John) Hopgood DFC RAF who was killed attacking the mohne dam 16/17 May 1943.
personally as i am fully aware of this story mainly out of meeting one of the 2 POWs that survived the loss of Johns Lanc, his rear Air Gunner a chap named Tony Burcher DFM RAAF (he always said he deserved the VC the orig movie didn't know the full story back then of how his lanc was damaged by FLAK but still went on the damage killing his nose gunner wounding both himself and his F/E, of how knowing the end was near he stayed with the lanc along with his F/E so that 3 of his aircrew were able to abandon by parachute (1 died of injuries).
the other reason i think its great casting is that John was a very complex character a example being when he was target shooting with a webly revolver he shot a bird and cried like a baby when he did it.
i think if anyone can pull off that kind of tortured soul he could.
now if only someone would make a new Modesty movie lol....
we can but hope!!

There was talk of doing a Modesty movie sometime back, but nothing seemed to eventuate from it. There was that "My name is Modesty" straight to video thing, and though I kind of enjoyed it, it felt like a TV show episode, not a movie and definitely not a modesty one!!
