Modesty Blaise artwork for an upcoming issue of the Swedish comic book magazine 'Agent X-9', who were generous enough to let me post this early as a tribute to Modesty's creator, Peter O'Donnel, who passed away on the 3rd of May, aged 90.Pencil sketch on paper, painted in photoshop.

It seems to me there's an odd distortion of Modesty's head and hair as this were a photo taken with a very short focal-length lens. Was that intentional or just me?

It was a tricky angle and I wanted a hint of distortion, but wasn't entirely happy with how modesty's face turned out. Lucky for me, the client loves it and I have a chance to do a second, and hopefully even better cover!

Titan books have been doing a great job of collecting them in oversized volumes. I've been picking them up on Amazon - pretty cheap too!

If you want the complete set of stories you should look for the new Titan edition. If you want a better quality, but not every episode, you should look for the books they released in the 80's.
If you want the best looking print, you should get a subscription of Agent X9.
It is in swedish though...

Sorry about the confusion. Agent X-9 is a swedish magazine that is currently running reprints of the english modesty comic, but translated into Swedish.

Ah, I see! I think they still sell the Agent X9 comics with Modesty in Norway too, in norwegian that is. Maybe they are printed in Sweden. Or maybe it`s not the same comic/magazine at all. I`ll keep my eyes open for this cover though! Anyways, this is a fave

It is not exactly the same, but it is the same publishing company (Egmont), but different divisions.
Many of the comics are the same, but not all. And while we are running the Holdaway-episodes now I THINK (but are not sure) that Norway is running Romereo-episodes.
But it's been a while since I spoke with them.
We do not have the same cover: Romero do most of our covers – who does the NorwegianI do not know.
But I do know we will win the best cover this summer, that's for sure. All thanks to Loopydave!
