Description
I have a confession to make⦠I'm a sucker for quirky micro cars. While others are welcome to enjoy their sports cars, SUV's, 4x4's or minivans, I like my cars tiny, somewhat underpowered and just a little temperamental.
Recently purchased a 2006 smart fortwo and it amused me that if I applied a logical sequence to the shapes of the cars I have owned over the years, the next one would, in fact, be spherical.
Of course I had to design it and draw up my old carsβ¦.
Pencil sketches - painted in photoshop.

Sure thing... My first beloved car was a '76 Honda Civic. Bluish with black interior. I remember the smallness & front wheel drive seemed so wildly unique and fun back then. One could power around really aggressively and plow through heavy snows around the fish tailing heavy cars. That unique Honda starter sound and motor probably would run forever until I drove into a flash flood sink hole and cracked the transmission. I must have dropped 1-2 feet into the hole that consumed the car. To it's credit though, it crawled right back out of the hole. Sadly, it could no longer go past 35 without coughing after that. Over the years, after a Regal, a Grand Am and others, I'm finally back in a Honda Accord. It's kinda cool to see the renewed attention to the tiny cars again. The revitalized Cooper craze... yours etc.. Fun stuff. Anyways, really nice work. Any special tips on technique?

Brilliant, as usual.
Just out of curiosity, how long did it take to you to paint something like this?

About 15 minutes sketching on paper and about 15 hours painting - I'm really fast with a pencil and quite slow on the painting side.. but then I like my details a lot

Your future car seems to be an original iMac with wheels. Apple fans rejoice!
Masterful artwork as always.

Definitely not something you'd want to have a systems crash then!
Cheers!

Absolutely spot-on. I was thinking the same thing. A blue & white G3 iMac.

It was a wonderfully underpowered little car - I used to drive it on the freeway to work sometimes, where the top speed was 62 mph (100kmph) and it would usually get there if the wind wasnt strong and the road was level or slightly downhill. Once got it to 70mph by driving in the slipstream of a large truck, though I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with a weak heart

They were my favourite cars when I was a little kid - I'm sure the Herbie movies had something to do with that though!

Yeah.. Herbie, Herbie rides again.. I even had the Herbie comic books.. The racing in a small car & and the sequence when all the bugs, from new to junkers, came to life and congregated fascinated me.

oh and i can also predict some "technical details" for your next car ^^: 1000cc, 8 speed clutchless manual, 0-60 mph - 13 seconds

Funny, thats almost exactly the specs I initially wrote down, but then decided it would probably be an electric motor of sorts and am unfamiliar with how those things listed out so settled on the TBA.

lol! 6 feet. Was always a little cramped in the Mightyboy, but surprisingly roomy in the Smart car - plenty of head clearance and leg area.

'Helmet 800' - I like it . Yup, was a bit of a labor of love... they may bit quirky and underpowered, but I've always had a very strong attachment to my cars
Cheers man, and thanks for the fave
