Description
"Look, Mom! I can levitate three at once! Ooh, hang on, I bet I can juggle them with magic!" Pan moved her paws to juggle the apples in a way that would likely end in a splattered mess-"Let's not overexert ourselves." Twilight reminded Pandora gently, chuckling. Despite herself, she couldn't quite suppress her smile, radiating with maternal pride. "...You've impressed me today, Panny. I know you'll make your father and I very proud someday." She enveloped her daughter in her wing, and Pan snuggled close, always eager for her mother's approval.
Moondancer scowled to himself, and focused on properly levitating his apple.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Moondancer, Trixie's son, is proficient in the magical arts, despite his young age. For this reason, Twilight Sparkle picks him out to take and train on a personal apprentice, along with her daughter Pandora. Pan and Moony start out as friends, but Moondancer can't help but feel jealous increasingly often. He is a direct descendant of Starswirl, after all. It should be him impressing Princess Twilight with magic...
Shadows can cast pretty far, and be very deep.
This is really awesome, and I love the expressions here. They each tell so much, from the student who wants to impress his mom and teacher, and the teacher and mom; so full of pride, to the student who feels betrayed and cast aside. Very nicely done, indeed. ^_^
This is really good. The only thing that gets me is that people waste their talent by dedicating it to a useless fandom. Not saying the show is bad. I'm just saying that using your creative talents for something that makes "haters," as you bronies like to call me, want to bash their heads in with a rock, is not the most useful way of using your talents.
Don't call me a hater, I'm just giving constructive criticism.
Er, just saying, but, saying someone is wasting their talent by drawing and dedicating their time to a "useless" fandom is not constructive criticism. Constructive criticism is helpful to the artist, what you said, is not.
NauskiIls In reply to itsBINXbro [2016-03-02 07:26:51 +0000 UTC]
So to make it short.
If an artist is having fun drawing something he/she personally likes but doesn't meet your personal preferences, it's a ''waste of talent''?
You're not the center of attention of the world sweetie. Artists will draw what they want to, and calling it a waste of talent because you don't like is a very ignorant, invalid and stupid attitude.
Also, your comment wasn't constructive criticism. It's called being an a-hole.
Lopoddity In reply to itsBINXbro [2016-03-02 04:58:33 +0000 UTC]
Constructive criticism is nice, but I don't see where you've given any. All you said was essentially "I don't like something, and that means it has no value to anyone." Which is a very arrogant opinion to give, especially unsolicited.
"Waste my talent"? Well, that's just like, your opinion, man. See the great thing is, I don't think I'm wasting my talent. I think I'm sharing my talent. I think I'm having fun. I think I'm connecting to a vast, wonderful fandom, and making art that I love doing. I think I'm honing my art abilities, and telling stories people care about, and making friends along the way.
I do this for me. Not for you. If you don't like it, kindly shove off.
HoneyPupDragon In reply to itsBINXbro [2016-03-02 03:48:41 +0000 UTC]
Constructive criticismΒ is the process of offering valid and well-reasoned opinions about the work of others, usually involving both positive and negative comments, in a friendly manner rather than an oppositional one. The purpose of 'constructive criticismΒ is to improve the outcome.
You have stated "people waste their talent by dedicating it to a useless fandom." Newflash, sweetie, fandoms are unity and a social worldwide economic structure built by the people who share their thoughts, art, ideas etc. It's like one big family.
And "haters" are pretty much a group of people wasting their own precious time and energy hating on everything and usually do not give valid reason for hating in the first place. We can hate, but there comes a time where it expresses more than a general dislike for a simple cartoon.
You may not be a hater, but your criticism looks nothing like a criticism. You stated your opinion in a negative way that did little to give at least some positive feedback that could have been suggested or help better the artist who worked on their art for their own enjoyment. Artists draw for fun too, it helps us relax and express ourselves.
Think before you actually start writing something down. Don't start writing and not know what you're typing.
I'm very aware of how rapid bronies can be, but honestly, you don't come across as any better. You're basically saying that because you don't personally like something, that makes it inherently a worthless subject matter and pursuit and that the only way this artist can really achieve "true" success is by conforming to your tastes and interests. You're taking what is your own subjective outlook and presenting it as an objective basis for advice. "You're good at art but this kind of stuff makes me want to bash my head in, therefore the best advice for you is to stop drawing this and start drawing things I like." That's not constructive criticism, that's arrogance.
