"Look, Mom! I can levitate three at once! Ooh, hang on, I bet I can juggle them with magic!" Pan moved her paws to juggle the apples in a way that would likely end in a splattered mess-"Let's not overexert ourselves." Twilight reminded Pandora gently, chuckling. Despite herself, she couldn't quite suppress her smile, radiating with maternal pride. "...You've impressed me today, Panny. I know you'll make your father and I very proud someday." She enveloped her daughter in her wing, and Pan snuggled close, always eager for her mother's approval.
Moondancer scowled to himself, and focused on properly levitating his apple.

Moondancer, Trixie's son, is proficient in the magical arts, despite his young age. For this reason, Twilight Sparkle picks him out to take and train on a personal apprentice, along with her daughter Pandora. Pan and Moony start out as friends, but Moondancer can't help but feel jealous increasingly often. He is a direct descendant of Starswirl, after all. It should be him impressing Princess Twilight with magic...

I say this softly just so you know, no malice or anger intended, but what might not seem useful to you may seem really great to others. For example I love drawing fanart, but some fandoms I do not like. It doesn't mean that the fanart from the fandoms I don't like is useless. Every fandom has people who don't like it and see it as pointless. But just because someone doesn't see it your way, does not mean they are wasting their talents. They just have different interests. No fandom is useless because to someone it serves a purpose, and asking someone to not draw something someone won't like is kind of an impossible expectation and gives off the message to artists that " you should make art for fandoms that only I like." No offense I know you probably did not mean it that way but that is often how it is taken. Every fandom has people who think it is useless, so avoiding fandoms that people won't like is really impossible.

Wonderful amazing art... as usual! I love to see the growing-up years. And yes, this is how you ruin children... fill their heads with 'should' and 'must' and stories of triumph and mastery without impressing on them the hours and days and years of tedium and pain and practice that mastery requires... and then (even accidentally) sow the seeds of discord (pun most heartily intended) by allowing them to compare themselves to others. Instead of taking pains to teach them that victory over self is the only victory that matters, that the only valid comparison you can ever make between yourself and someone else is if that someone else is who you were yesterday.
... and no one does it on purpose. You just want the child to know where they came from, to feel good about their accomplishments, to have the motivation to work hard and improve themselves.
And somehow it all goes so wrong... so subtly, so unnoticed.
And then one day inseparable childhood best-ies are at each other throats, drawing blood and planting poison darts with hooves and words and by the time anyone notices what's happening is already far too late.
... how did it get this way? How did it all go so wrong? What happened?
It'd all be so much easier if foals came with an instruction manual!

I don´t really think that Moony has an actual chance to compete wie Pan. She IS Twilights daughter. Even if he levitated 10 apples, Twilight would still be happy that her baby can levitate 3.

yeah. And pretty sad. Twilight is probably not even aware of it and nobody can expect that a foal like Moony understands that it is nothing against him. He´s just a little kid who wants to impress his teacher so bad that he does not see that, if Trixi were their teacher, he would be the favored of the two.

Lop, I have to admit this: of all of your beautiful, diverse, rounded-out characters, Moony has got to be one of my favorites, backstory wise at least. Among many other forces in our world and the world of Equestria, jealousy and envy are such powerful things. For those who don't know, jealousy is wanting to keep what you already have, and envy is wanting to take what someone else has. While I would say that Moony is a "victim" of envy rather than jealousy (and I put victim in quotation marks because no matter how much we want to believe other people are at fault, we control our actions. We may not control our emotions, but what we do because of those emotions is entirely our decision), either one can twist the mind and harden the heart and lie curled in our stomachs for years at a time. The fact that Moondancer captures this so amazingly well is just another lovely reminder of Lopoddity's incredible imagination and talent.
And so, I say: a tip of the hat to you, madam.
