Description You know, I've been thinking...What if Gray Mann designed the A.I. for his robotic army based on the minds of the original nine mercenary classes? It wouldn't be that far of a stretch - the robots all speak in their respective character voices, are shown to have some sense of pride (frequently taunting their opponents upon death and humiliation) and, to an extent, are even capable of "feeling" pain. While they've been programmed to obey their creator without question, I can't help but wonder if there's just a little bit of "Mann" in these machines.

Some may even have memories, or perhaps an echo of consciousness; a vestige of a human soul, locked inside a cold metal shell...forever alone.

"There have always been ghosts in the machine. Random segments of code that have grouped together to form unexpected protocols. Unanticipated, these free radicals engender questions of free will, creativity, and even the nature of what we might call the soul. Why is it that when some robots are left in darkness, they will seek out the light? Why is it that when robots are stored in an empty space, they will group together, rather than stand alone? How do we explain thisΒ behaviourΒ  Random segments of code? Or is it something more? When does a perceptual schematic become consciousness? When does a difference engine become the search for truth? When does a personality simulation become the bitter mote... of a soul?"

That would be interesting. Maybe the first nine could be the most 'sentient' or whatever because they are the closest thing to the real deal.

Maybe they have an algorithm that includes even 2.
