Mining Log, Third Cycle of the eighth day:
We've finally landed on the new moon thought to be riddled with pure and precious Prenchian Ore and drilling begins immediately.
We started at block E 16 and already the Hessir is boring a hole four meters in diameter and fifteen meters deep as per the scientist's specifications.
Hopes are high for a rich vein of Rollt today, not necessarily what we are looking for, but it is good for smoking as well as selling.
Seeing as the workers were each promised equal share of whatever the found OTHER than Prenchian, morale is very high.
I begin to make my rounds as we approach the vein so as to discourage hasty workmanship, we have never yet had an accident as long as I've been coordinator and I will not have missing limbs on account of impatient and excited digging.
I hear shouting and strange noise coming from over the hill where the site is, surely they haven't hit the vein already?
I shall return after a cursory check of the drill site.
What could they be so excited about?

-The last transmission from the crew aboard the "Sentience" before all conact was terminated three cycles later-

According to the government, a storm hit the site as a result of "unusual atmospheric conditions" the grieving families were summarily awarded three thousand marks each and the whole thing was deflected as a freak accident.
The new moon was left alone officially, unofficially it was the subject if intense study by seven small bands of government agents of whom two bands survived, one band was never heard from again and four were confirmed dead.
