Description
Photo of Queen Anne Cottage.
Elias Jackson ("Lucky") Baldwin's Queen Anne Cottage was constructed in 1885-86.Β Architect Albert A. Bennett designed the cottageΒ in the Queen Anne architectural style. The Queen Anne Cottage is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
If this building looks familiar to you and you are wondering why, it was used as the setting for the TV series Fantasy Island (from the late 70's through all of the 80's.)
This photo was taken at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden.

I agree it is a look that you don't see in your average neighborhoods.

It almost does look like a *gingerbread* gingerbread house

Perhaps the most gingerbread-like of any gingerbread house I've ever seen

Nice capture, I used to love visiting this place, thanks for sharing it. They used to also film parts of the old Tarzan show at the Arboretum.

Yes it sort of does remind a person of a candy cane. I don't think I would have liked to have been a house painter when this style of architecture was very popular!

Well, shows and movies -- just "Fantasy Island." But I've been to the LA County Arboretum many times -- that's mostly where I've seen it and the grounds around it.
