there is a little city, not far from me, called Romeo. And its full of houses like these. They are all pretty expensive, at least by the rate of other houses in Michigan. Β What is really nice is the fact that the city will help home owners keep all the original stuff in the house... like wood floors, crown molding... etc... Β They help with restoration and everything. The only thing that is asked in return is Β for a plaque to be placed on the home that says when it was built and sometimes the original home owners name. And once a year they do tours through part of your house.Either once or twice a year. But the tour is short and you know exactly when they will be coming. I would love to live in a house like this... or one of the old plantation homes down south.

That is a great policy that Michigan has to restore/preserve their historical homes. I don't believe that California has anything like this on their books, but they definitely need something like what Michigan is doing. Thanks for sharing this information.

not all of Michigan, but the city Romeo does, on their historical homes. Which really pays off because its a small city full of mostly beautiful Β houses. I wish Detroit would do that. The once beautiful city with numerous old homes looks like a war zone. Most of the houses that had things that could be restored,,, has been stolen, light fixtures, doors and door knobs... all gone. Looks like a bomb went off in the middle of the city. Such a sad sad shame.
