Yeah I mean there games systems lack the diversity that Microsoft and sony offer to their gaming customers.

That is true. Most gaming companies rise and fall. Nintendo had its golden age with it sales in 90s and early 2000s. Atari had its golden age in the 70s and early 80s. But just like Atari and SEGA, even eventually Microsoft and Sony will eventually fall as well, who knows.

That also reminds me. There is an alternate history series on Althistory Wikia, called Ohga Shrugs, where it basically "what if" SONY decided to not go into the video game industry after its dispute with Nintendo in the 90s. 

And in this world due to Sony never releasing the PlayStation, results in SEGA and Nintendo (and also Microsoft) being the major video game companies to present day. (And by that I mean SEGA survives even into the 2010s with video game consoles).

I doubt it for Microsoft and Sony because they have diversified.

Yeah I remember that timeline, never really looked into it though.
