Description
Entry for the SOAP2 competition[link]
For Havillands Stables Jest Star of Havillands and Khi BLack.
Mention archery and Khi's there, she is good at it, it was the only one of her pass times as a child that her mother actually approved of! (The rest of Khi's hobbies being exactly what her two brothers did; fencing, racing, shooting and self defence!) On hearing that there was a competition at TIS, She hastily packed up herself and Sparky and made the journey to join in.
Here they are on the archery field in mid run. That's T'han traditional military attire they both have on, although Khi really should do something about her hair as she will get it wrapped around her bowstring if she isn't careful! However you couldn't miss her on the battlefield, looking like Boudicca!
Drawn in propelling pencil on cartridge paper, inked with Pitt pens, scanned and coloured in photoshop foliage brushes from :iconcathychild:
Ok, I know I have drawn Sparky a bit too small, he is supposed to be huge, but I'm calling on artistic licence here!

Yeah but I don't think the women did....did they? I do know quite a bit about the Celts but I'm by no means an expert

I know the men did and the women generally wore tunic type gowns, but if it was cold probably a few extra layers might have been welcome.

Hair trapped in the bowstring sounds painful!

I need to dig out some of my older stuff, Somewhere there's a sketchbook from college days called "The Dreadful Wedding And The Equally Awful Consequences" which features T'han wedding gowns- which are black and gold!

This is brilliant, such a good action pose and the look of concentration on her face is excellent! I love the tree background, too, and the simple outline bunny!

Thank you, this was drawn very quickly, I guess I hadn't got time to be precious over it. I did have to stand around doing archery poses to get the hands right though.

I only ever did it with home-made bows and arrows at my grandad's house, I could get one through the hole in the shed window (which was done by a cricket ball, not my early attempts at aiming!) but my technique is probably terrible to anyone who was ever shown properly!

I was in an archery club for a while, I was not strong enough to pull a decent bow though.

They are older than Brave,
:thumb175154617:
I have been drawing these two doing dangerous things for over 30 years, way before the internet was around to share artwork with the world.

Oh I'm sure, I was just saying that they reminded me of that because I've known Brave before I've known your characters. If I would have known your characters first I would have seen Brave and thought, Reminds me of Jest and Khi So I meant to offense when I said that
Though it is amazing that you've held on to the same characters for so long!

That's ok,
They have evolved over the years, but I'm much older than the other artists on here, so of course my characters are going to be veterans.

Nope, Not seen Brave, and these two predate that film by about 33 years!
:thumb175154617:
They are old old characters of mine (but then I'm am old old artist!)
