I want to thank you very much for this beautiful tutorial.Β Can I ask you a few questions?
1.Β Whether it is possible in this program to smooth models?
2.Β Can add more than one texture & bump?
3. I have a problem with hair & eyelashes.Β I choose uv & alpha but result:Β s020.radikal.ru/i713/1405/f9/c… .

LoveStruck2 In reply to Taitiii [2014-05-27 20:49:30 +0000 UTC]

1. I don't think so, KeyShot is mainly for pure rendering.
2. Not that I'm aware, I'm currently trying to use the labels to see if it lets you do that, but I don't think it's possible.
3.Make sure you're using the same material of the diffuse hair on the alpha tab, and switch it to alpha, once that happens, make sure it's on UV mapping.
If it still didn't work, sometimes it's either the model, or that the color will clear off once rendered.

Tell me if it worked

Taitiii In reply to LoveStruck2 [2014-05-29 04:43:48 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I'm sure that I use same material for Color & for Opacity. I choose uv mapping & alpha but it doesn't work. Β Such a problem with all models: s51.radikal.ru/i131/1405/f4/ce… , i055.radikal.ru/1405/d1/eb3fae… & etc.
AndΒ another question. WhyΒ when saving to png results of hair: s016.radikal.ru/i335/1405/66/0… ?

What is your graphics card? I think it has to do with that since I had this problem on my old laptop.

Switch the type from diffuse to Advanced material, should be the first one in there.
Also, what version of KeyShot are you using?

The model shouldn't be all blue, it should have all the textures in their places.
If you manage to find the model with all it's textures, you should have no problem with hair.
But I'm not sure why does it come up blue. How do you export your model? Do you export it as .obj into an empty folder in your desktop? Try something else, like exporting it to the actual folder of the model inside the data folder, then don't do anything else- the textures are already there.

Tell me what happens.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Taitiii In reply to LoveStruck2 [2014-06-05 05:52:47 +0000 UTC]

Unchanged. I export .obj in folder Data in XnaLara. Then I create new folder & add textures.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LoveStruck2 In reply to Taitiii [2014-06-05 08:02:18 +0000 UTC]

How about you export it in the folder for the model, inside the data folder.
For example, if you're working on a Leon model, pose the model then export it in the original Leon folder, inside the data folder, should work afterwards.

Nope: s020.radikal.ru/i706/1406/fb/2… . Same problem.

LoveStruck2 In reply to Taitiii [2014-07-01 06:39:50 +0000 UTC]

You know, I had this problem with my old computer. The model must have all the diffuse textures applied to it once you import it, but I'm not sure why it's not working with you
The only thing I can recommend is trying KeyShot on another PC. I'm not sure what's the problem with yours, but my problem was solved when I switched computers.

LoveStruck2 In reply to LoveStruck2 [2014-05-30 06:49:07 +0000 UTC]

Found another problem, whatever you're doing when exporting the model, switch it.

Export the model into an empty folder, dont copy paste it, just export it from xnalara to there, then copy the model's textures and put them inside the folder, that's probably the problem.

Another question, I have a XPS scene in which the model looks into the camera. But in Keyshot I can't seem to position the camera so the model looks into it again. How would you handle that?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LoveStruck2 In reply to VirtueVigilante [2014-04-10 11:54:22 +0000 UTC]

Not with a press of a button, you could try taking a picture of the model as you want it in XPS, then use it as reference.
If you mean that you can't move the camera, learn the basic movements, which are done with the wheel, the left button, and right button.

VirtueVigilante In reply to ??? [2014-03-29 19:32:01 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the tutorial, I was able to make some great renders because of it!

I have a small problem with some models, maybe you can help me with. Sometimes the diffuse map for the face is different then for most models, it seems to sometimes be a png with a lower opacity. When importing such model into KeyShot, the face looks much darker then the rest of the textures. Do you know how to make such models look like they do in XPS again?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

LoveStruck2 In reply to VirtueVigilante [2014-04-01 17:50:50 +0000 UTC]

Sorry for late reply, it's a good thing that my tut helped ^^

Afraid not But there is a remedy for directly editing the color/contrast/brightness of a certain texture, just select it, go to the texture tab, scroll down, and raise the brightness of the diffuse map, perhaps lower the contrast too, this will probably alter the textures to your liking.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

VirtueVigilante In reply to LoveStruck2 [2014-04-02 09:37:31 +0000 UTC]

The texture would still be transparant then, I think it's some special type of texture or something because in xps it shows just fine. Only remedy I found is to removed the transparancy by opening in photoshop and re-saving the texture... Thanks for the reply though!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LoveStruck2 In reply to VirtueVigilante [2014-04-03 03:39:31 +0000 UTC]

Btw, you can try checking if you're messing with the alpha channel, it sometimes makes things transparent if you haven't set it to color.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

VirtueVigilante In reply to LoveStruck2 [2014-04-10 10:09:30 +0000 UTC]

No it's set to color, but the texture itself looked transparant untill I saved it again in photoshop

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

VirtueVigilante In reply to VirtueVigilante [2014-03-29 19:47:55 +0000 UTC]

Well, I did find a workaround already. I opened the original face_d.tga in photoshop and it showed up at full opacity. I saved it as a .png and used that in my KeyStone material for the face. That seems to work, but I have no clue what it's all about haha.

idk how to fill in the boxes with my bump, spec, etc maps is it a specific file in the textures?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LoveStruck2 In reply to Mixedf [2013-11-28 17:32:47 +0000 UTC]

Idk what you mean If you mean that you don't know how to just simply fill them in, you just have to double click on the empty box, and then if you're on specular map, go to the texture that has .spec or .s , and if you're filling a bump map, fill it with a file that has .n and tick the normal map box if you are dealing with a normal map.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Mixedf In reply to LoveStruck2 [2013-11-28 17:41:14 +0000 UTC]

how about opacity?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LoveStruck2 In reply to Mixedf [2013-11-29 07:17:59 +0000 UTC]

Choose the same texture that you used for diffuse (which should have .diff at the end or .D, sometimes just the name of the texture without anything extra). Double click on the empty box of opacity as usual, and after choosing the diffuse texture, change the mode to alpha (I think it's clarified up there ^)

Mixedf In reply to LoveStruck2 [2013-11-29 18:49:22 +0000 UTC]

I have a lot for .s, .n, etc textures in my folder. Which ones do I choose. Do I just put one in each respected box?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LoveStruck2 In reply to Mixedf [2013-11-30 08:00:00 +0000 UTC]

Yep, say if you're texturing hair, it would say something like: Hair.n, Hair.s, so just place them in their boxes.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Mixedf In reply to LoveStruck2 [2013-11-30 15:12:15 +0000 UTC]

But 1 box only fits 1 texture

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LoveStruck2 In reply to Mixedf [2013-12-01 20:48:35 +0000 UTC]

Yeah? so place each one in each box.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Mixedf In reply to LoveStruck2 [2013-12-03 01:44:58 +0000 UTC]

but what do i do with the rest of the textures? do i just put a random one in each?

LoveStruck2 In reply to Mixedf [2013-12-03 17:47:51 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, again I'm not sure I understand XD

Let me give you another example, I'm doing the head textures, so I'll put Head.d, Head.n (bump), Head.s (specular).

Let me know what happensΒ

This is a great tutorial but how do you load the textures on the model? everytime I try to use this, the model looks purple ish

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LoveStruck2 In reply to LadyLionhart [2013-11-24 19:04:37 +0000 UTC]

Or bluish right? This used to happen when I change the location of the .object file I exported from XNALara, I usually just export them inside the folder that contain the original textures of the model, or just copy the textures to where I exported the .obj

Let me know if it worked.
