Taranee, appropriately named Cook which works nicely with the fire element, is in the show for all the intelligent shy kids. Introverted, quiet, thoughtful, obedient and scared of bugs, among other things. She has many phobias.
At least, that is how Taranee behaves at first, as soon as she gets to fly and throw fiery knuckles around she starts to get more lively and excited, her behaviour is almost contrary to her normal self. She really becomes the raging fire. In fact, the show does a nice bit of visual story-telling: Whenever Taranee is angry, you get an intense close-up of her face with fire reflecting in her glasses.
This duality leads to a bit of a character crisis when she starts doing weird stuff for the sole purpose of breaking her obedient silent persona and getting rid of the empty feeling of being a shadow nobody seems notice.

WITCH might be mostly just a humorous dark-fantasy action adventure but sometimes it does have very well-done character development. Taranee is a good example of that. Maybe it is the fact that I myself have been shy but whenever I observed her behaviour, it feels really genuine.

When I saw the thumbnail, I thought you'd done an image of Robin from Batman. Maybe it was the colors.

Cool pic, the like her action pose and the fire behind her, like she's in mid asskicking. Like the fire reflected on her glasses like you mention in the description. She actually sounds like a cool character, I like the idea of a fire based character starting out shy and timid, then getting more 'fiery' as the show went on.

Use of colors is a good as ever, particularly the little bit of red in the ceiling, like its reflected from the fire.

The colours are a bit tricky. All the "fairy" outfits are mixed from cyan or pink/purple colour so I either draw them brighter or darker, depending on which element they use. Since Taranee uses fire, I made the colours really bright. I guess the resulting palette ended up looking like Robin.

Right you are, she is actually my favourite character of the bunch. Well, the most relatable for me, anyhow.

I wanted to focus on lighting and shadows in this picture. Though the red shade in the background was actually added only to make the picture a bit more colourful, I was just tired of drawing black and brown cave ceiling.  You can imagine there is a red crystal or something up there, I guess.
