Cameron admitted that he took alot of stuff from Edgar Rice Burrough's novels, too... which were published at the beginning of last century.

It still doesn't change that Avatar's story was kind of shallow and used tired themes. Also, just because Cameron had work of the Avatar prior to other movies doesn't mean those movies had no influence over it.

I didn't think Avatar stole ideas from other movies, that doesn't keep it from being insanely overrated and unoriginal though.
