Description
Amiibos have finally been released and that adds to yet another marketing ploy to steal money. I got a Fox figure and hope to get a Lucario, Mega Man and Sonic figure soon. Will you be getting these dodads? Is Disney Infinity and Skylanders a distant memory now?ΒAlso this looks terrible, my bad. )=

Actually for Skylanders Superchargers, Bowser and Donkey Kong are guest starring as playable characters. Their toy versions are actually Skylander/Amiibo Hybrids.

Unfortunately amiibo is failing when it comes to supply and demand. North America's stores are always sucked dry of nearly all Smash-related amiibo.

Amiibo got the formula right, the amiibos aren't needed for gameplay and don't just unlock other stupid stuff in the game, unlike Skylanders or Disney IN.

I'll be honest, that I never liked how Disney and Nintendo take what Activation has already made.
The only isolation I have for Skylanders, is because of the old saying "First come, first serve".

It doesn't matter who does it first, it's a matter of who did it the best. That's like saying Nintendo can make games but Sony and Microsoft can't because Nintendo did it first. Also Amiibos are the best.

That's your opinion. .w.
I'm just saying it's a preference to Me, cause Skylanders puts more Family time into it.
Even thought that I would feel better playing it, if it was Online Co-op at least. .w.

Actually, Amiibo's aren't nearly as money stealing as Skylanders or Disney infinity, considering you don't actually NEED an amiibo to play a game, unlike skylanders/disney infinity.

20$ isn't expensive. Not in today's world.

I don't literally mean expensive, I'm just saying that just one of those things cost more than the Skylanders. Besides, what's their purpose?

Mystery mushroom costumes in Super Mario Maker, CPU Fighters in Smash Bros that can learn, MK8 Mii Racing outfits,Β
Bonus missions in Splatoon, amiibo party mode in Mario Party 10, etc, etc...

I'm just saying that if the majority of what they can do is not revolved around actually playing as amiibos and just revolves costumes, outfits, and whatnot then I honestly don't see the point in them. Especially since Nintendo fails miserably when it comes to stock and demand.

You DO realize amiibos are still fairly new, right?
It's pretty stupid to judge something so harshly before it's even
had a chance to shine. Just give it a couple of years and amiibo's
will improve.

BCtheBoss In reply to magshi [2015-10-22 22:18:49 +0000 UTC]
Apparently, you can't take it when someone tells you their personal opinions on something. Although, I'm really not sure amiibos will last that long unless Nintendo can keep coming up with new characters. Or at least keep making Skymiibos with Activision. Despite their horrible stock and demand the amiibos are still selling pretty good. They still haven't surpassed Skylanders or Disney Infinity, but they're still doing pretty decent.

magshi In reply to BCtheBoss [2015-10-23 04:48:22 +0000 UTC]
Where did you get that idea? All i said was that it was stupid to judge a concept
that hadn't been used to its full extent yet, amiibos have much potential in them
that they haven't used, and i believe they will make good use of amiibos yet. Although,
yet again, you completely ignored the other, perhaps more crucial part of the amiibo's
potential, their use in games. After all, amiibos are all but functionless figurines without games
in which to use them. BTW, amiibo functonallity is being worked into many of nintendo's newest
titles, so amiibos are hardly going to waste. Two of the most recent titles, Super Mario Maker and
Yoshi's Woolly World, have amiibo functionality worked in. Even if its something small, you can't say
nintendo isn't at least trying to go somewhere with amiibos, rather than rehashing the same concepts
seen in Skylanders and Disney Infinity. (And no, Bowser in Skylanders doubling as an amiibo dosen't
quite count, considering the wide variety of uses for an amiibo)

You may need to enlighten me on that one. I'd love to be proven wrong in this field; but things like Skylanders and this just scream to me 'overpriced gimmick'.

LucidPhoton In reply to Ddraigtanto [2014-11-24 20:50:25 +0000 UTC]
Amiibos can be used for all sorts of things. You can use them for several games like, Smash Bros, mario Kart, Hyrule Warriors, Captain Toad, mario Party.....must I go on? You can also use for some 3DS games when that's made available. Basically they're A LOT more useful and they can be used for all sorts of in game purposes, ranging from unlock secret content, playing as said character in a game, kinda treating it like a pet, the possibilites are endless. Unlike Skylanders and DI where they're just characters to play as and maybe allow you to get a little more in depth with whatever games are in the series. DI: 2, Skylander: 4, Amiibo: OVER 9000!!!!

You don't really play as them either. They act like their own person essentially. It makes them look cooler and seem more appealing, if you play smash bros against your amiibo and it beats you, you can be like "SCREW AMIIBO!! What the hell man?"
Instead of "Dammit, Spyro died, guess I'll play as cynder instead."Β
I just used my Fox amiibo in Mario Kart 8 and it's so awesome to see my Mii in Fox's clothes. It's also nice to have the figurine of your favorite characters in your possession. I plan to get a Lucario, mega man and sonic figure soon. It may not seem worth 13$ now but trust me, in the end you'll be glad you have these
