A while back, I came up with different ideas for Muppet comics that I wanted to do and ran a poll on which ideas you people would want me to do most, while making it clear that the winning vote would have no bearing on which story I'd do first. This comic realizes the idea of Kermit and Miss Piggy at the beach, which was the highest-rated option and the only one of the three remaining ideas that I feel like doing while we're still in the midst of this COVID-19 pandemic.
The other two stories that will remain on hold until we're finally able to get back to our lives (or whatever will remain of them thanks to the continued presence of the danger the corona virus has caused) are a follow-up to the Crystal Gayle episode of The Muppet Show where the prairie dogs return to cause more havoc and actually get punished (because I was mighty peeved off by the humiliation poor Kermit went through with losing his collar and everything he used as a replacement) and a crossover story featuring my favorite mad scientist characters (aside from Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker as well as Dr. Phil van Neuter and Mulch, the story would also feature the title character of Franny K. Stein, Dr. Zitbag from Dr. Zitbag's Transylvania Pet Shop, and Dr. Vic Frankenstein from Toonsylvania, among others. The premise is that various mad scientists and their assistants hold a contest to see who can create the best monster).
Anyway, our beach story starts with Miss Piggy stating how pleased she is to be at the beach with Kermit the Frog and her dog Foo Foo. While Kermit searches for a good spot to sit in the shade, Miss Piggy buys two ice cream cones. The ice cream vendor makes the mistake of making a remark about Miss Piggy's weight, which results in him getting the beating of a lifetime and telling Miss Piggy that the ice cream is free in hopes that it will get her to leave him alone.
As the two on-again, off-again lovers sit and enjoy their ice cream while reflecting on their experiences, Miss Piggy gets the idea that she and Kermit can go and play in the water.
This quarantine is driving me nuts. I know that it's necessary that we keep infection to a minimum so that less people die, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. I feel like if I have to put up with just one more month of this, I'll go out of my gourd. And the knowledge that there are people spreading false information about the virus (like The Mysterious Mr. Enter, whose recent actions such as spreading misconceptions of the COVID-19 pandemic makes me glad I stopped watching his videos a long time ago) has not helped my withering optimism at all.
For anyone who's concerned, I am not going to kill myself (I can't put my family or anyone out there who likes me through that kind of tragedy), nor am I going to join the bandwagon of the inconsiderate idiots who are disregarding the enforced quarantine because they value doing the outdoor activities they want to do over preventing the spreading of the virus (and therefore also preventing many deaths). I'm moving on simply because, as pessimistic and irritated as I am feeling right now, I know that quitting would only be letting so many people down. The longer we have to go through with this nonsense, the longer I worry about the damage that's occurring in the interim. You know you're having trouble cheering up when even the knowledge that the cops who killed George Floyd are actually facing repercussions for their actions isn't enough to make you smile.
