Yet another installment of my Power Rangers Recaps.
This time, I'm going over Power Rangers Megaforce and its second season Power Rangers Super Megaforce. The first season was a localization of the Super Sentai show Tensou Sentai Goseiger, while the second season was a localization of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. This makes Megaforce/Super Megaforce the first Power Rangers show to be an adaptation of more than one Super Sentai show since the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers (that is, if you don't count one of Lost Galaxy's villains originating from Power Rangers in Space's source material Denji Sentai Megaranger).
It is my understanding that Megaforce was not one of the well-liked Power Rangers shows. As was the case with my catching up on Wild Force and Operation Overdrive, I personally didn't think this show was that bad. You detractors can still dislike this Power Rangers show, I'm merely stating that I didn't find the series to be terrible in my opinion.
The story of Megaforce begins with a race of aliens called the Warstar planning their invasion. Gosei, a pupil of Zordon's who was tasked with protecting the Earth, decides to do something about it, so he uses the help of his own robotic assistant Tensou (obviously an equivalent to Alpha 5) to recruit some teenagers to form the Mega Rangers.
The recruited Rangers consist of Troy Burrows becoming Megaforce Red, Emma Goodall becoming Megaforce Pink, Jake Holling becoming Megaforce Black, Gia Moran becoming Megaforce Yellow and Noah Carver becoming Megaforce Blue.
The Warstar invasion fleet was led by Admiral Malkor, whose main lackeys were Creepox and Vrak (pronounced Vrock), who was alter revealed to be one of the two princes of the Warstar's royal family. The main flunkies were called Loogies, with Vrak having Zombats that were used to revive fallen villains of the week as giants to warrant a Megazord battle.
A secondary foe the Megaforce Rangers had to deal with were the Toxic Mutants, monsters born from pollution, the main ones being Bluefur and Bigs. The sixth Ranger here was Roboknight, a robotic hero who was initially aloof, but soon came to see that the Megaforce Rangers were on his side.
By the end of the regular season, the Toxic Mutants were destroyed and Vrak was rebuilt as a cyborg, but had to go into hiding for a while.
In the Super season, Roboknight was forgotten for most of the run and the Rangers had this new gimmick where they would become Super Megaforce Rangers. The Super modes had the same colors as the regular Megaforce Rangers, except Jake's Super Megaforce mode was Green rather than Black. In addition, the Rangers could also use keys to transform into past Power Rangers, even Rangers from Super Sentai shows that were never localized as Power Rangers shows.
For the bulk of this season, the main threat was Vrak's brother Prince Vekar, who was next in line for the throne. A new Sixth Ranger came in Orion, who became Super Megaforce Silver to avenge the destruction of his home planet at the hands of the Warstar. Roboknight eventually came back, only to get killed off.
Eventually, both Vekar and Vrak were vanquished, with the last baddie left being their father Emperor Mavro. After wiping out the fleet and seemingly being defeated, the Megaforce Rangers resolved and brought down Mavro. With the legions of soldiers being all that's left to defeat, the Rangers save the day with the assistance of every single Power Ranger preceding them, even though logically the SPD and Time Force Rangers would be in the future and the RPM Rangers are confirmed to be in another universe.
Lackluster response to the finale led to a movie called Legendary Battle (Extended Edition), which was edited together from the last two episodes The Wrath and Legendary Battle, with some additional footage added to flesh things out a bit.
I was looking forward to drawing all of the Rangers that existed at this point, but I'm afraid I underestimated the difficulty of this task, especially since I started drawing this picture late at night. I'm real sorry that all I drew were the Megaforce Rangers, Roboknight's head, the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, the Aquitar Rangers, the Red and Blue Zeo Rangers and a partially drawn Yellow Zeo Ranger.
Hopefully, the recap picture I draw for Dino Charge/Dino Super Charge is an improvement.

It's okay that you couldn't draw them all, but you can always edit the image

Seriously when will any of the future villains who randomly show up just face the facts that none of the power ranger teams can ever get defeated?!

It's in evil's nature to not accept defeat even when they clearly can't win.

That's never gonna happen. Evil always thinks they can triumph.

No matter what they say, this season is my favorite, especially for the villain Prince Vekar, who makes me laugh a lot
