It will not be long before my tribute drawings for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in honor of the upcoming 2012 show and 2014 movie(which will still have then as mutants) will be completed.

Now I will chronicle the different incarnations of Donatello, the intelligent Turtle. Watch out for spoilers.

Mirage Comics-

In the original Mirage comics, all the Turtles wore red bandannas, not just Donatello. He used the bo staff and was the most intelligent of the Turtles, using his expertise when the Turtles needed help with technology.

1987 Animated Series-

Donatello would be given a purple bandanna, as would all later incarnations of him. He would use his intellect to make lots of wacky gadgets to aid in the Turtles' battles against Shredder and Krang, and later Lord Dregg.

Donatello also appears in the Archie Comics series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures, which was loosely based on the 1987 cartoon. A story arc reveals that in the future, he'll have exterminated most of the world's rat population, putting him on bad terms with the Rat King.

Donatello would also become Supermutants and Metal Mutants with his brothers in the two-episode anime based on the 1987 cartoon in 1996.

Movies-

Donatello was depicted as less of a genius in the first movie and was very chummy with Michelangelo. His intellect would, however, play a role in the second film, where he helps Professor Jordan Perry make an anti-mutagen to de-mutate Shredder's mutant goons Tokka and Rahzar.

He would also appear in the third film to help the other Turtles rescue April from Feudal Japan.

In the 2007 CGI film TMNT, the Turtles are shown to have gone their separate ways after defeating Shredder for good. Donatello ran a Tech Support until the four brothers came back together.

Donatello will obviously be in the 2014 Ninja Turtles film. The Turtles will still be mutants as opposed to aliens, and that stuff about Don being a girl is a rumor. If there's ever going to be a female turtle in any future incarnation of the team, they'd more likely bring back Venus or create a new character rather than give one of the four existing turtles a sex change!

Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation-

In this short-lived and widely panned live-action show, Donnie would have a high-tech bo staff and get in frequent arguments with the fifth female turtle Venus de Milo over whether to use magic or science to stop the Dragon Lord and his Rank army.

2003 Animated Series-

Donatello is once again the brains of the team, and would get along well with Leatherhead and other characters.

2012 Animated Series-

Donatello will be in this new series set to air September 29 this year. He now has an overbite and his bo can become a naginata, a bo with a blade at the end of it. He is also said to have a crush on April O'Neil.
