Description Thoughts: Another study of General Tesler, going through quite some difficulty.... He also has some unwelcome company on his shoulder (and down the rest of him). The General has my respect: Tesler certainly didn't reach that age by giving up at any time!

This is a work meant as a study for a larger project.

There is still plenty for me to adapt to, with regard to rendering Tesler's figure. He has not only the most geometric build of any Program, but also the most robust and tall seen so far. To that end, there are some glaring errors here, but as I adapt, hopefully those will be cleared away. There is also a lack of reference images for his body at a high angle of view or proper lighting to discern form, which causes difficulty.

Materials: Mechanical pencil, sketchbook paper, graphite stick, col-erase pencil, watercolor, acrylic, .1 ink pen, and India Ink.

Another impressive work! You always deliver when it comes to this awesome character

You are right, Tesler has the most geometric built and it's pretty cool but can be difficult! You are definitely improvingΒ Β

Thank you, 4thGeneration. It's good to see your thoughts.

I'll certainly have to get a good grip on Tesler, and just what makes him fierce, but also strong - implicitly and outright. Though his character is treated rather flatly (if unfortunately, in that his threat level seems to have a sharp decline, from the start of the series), there's evidence to suggest that he does have certain values, and they're just as much a dangerous edge to his personality and conduct as his weaponry and command.

I'd sooner try to take as close a look at him as I can, and see what makes him respectable - a dangerous and powerful villain. A worthy villain.

For every 'okay' sketch, or just any sketch that pushed past basic work or study, there's about ten other lesser works. Adapting to a style is never easy... But it's not just adapting to the style, it's the expression, or the essence, that interests me. Expressing that via an individual style of comic-rendering is also what I am looking toward. I imagine it'll be a sharp learning curve.

I'll have a lot of work or study to do in order to arrive at what I feel is an 'alright' process. While there's lots of artists who use digital media, I prefer traditional - and without CTRL+Z to save me, it's a hard press forward.

Humor aside, I find there's something important to learning to render a character's presence on paper, and I'd certainly like to see - if I study and work hard enough at it - just how close or in what way I can honor Tron: Uprising's characters and it's world through this art type.

Plenty of Tesler to come, and much work to do.

I too only use traditional media even though Digital seems to be the way to go here on dA. There's just something so nice and relaxing about drawing on paper to me so that's why I prefer it

I think you are truly capturing his essence, both his threatening demeanor and build! especially with your coloring and shading style! Β

Thanks again!
Hopefully any later works of mine might have equal regard to offer, as I try to find both a suitable style, and also a properly reflective hold on depicting the General.

Although his diplomatic side is sometimes seen in the series, there must be a wider array to his situations and reactions. In the project I have in mind, there would be call for diplomacy, fury, defeat, fatigue, and resolution. I'll just have to see how those turn out.

Thank you, Genocyber. I appreciate the thought.

The sketch has certainly left plenty of points to pay attention to, and rough areas of detailing/process I will have to learn to deal with. As mentioned already, Tesler's body form is difficult to work with as well.

At the same time, I'll have to work up a lot of skill in not just body language and action-stance, but also character of action (and if that can even be accurately captured in a non-animated medium).

In any case, there should be plenty of Tesler, and hopefully later, Rinzler. Much practice is ahead of me.
