Why is it that the things I always intend to be the simplest little doodles end up being the most frustrating, tedious things to draw?Anyway, this is for the Ichigo's Birthday contest over at so of course, I gave him his favorite Hollow ever as a present. But Rukia's there, so it's...all okay, right?
?EDIT: Now that I've seen some other entries in the contest, I may have completely missed the point of the theme; I thought it only referred to the closing date of the contest, not the actual content. If that's the case, I'll try to whip up something more fitting before the final due date, but until then, well, here's this--this thing i did

Beautiful and creepy. I love the detail on the accessories each character is wearing, especially their individual necklaces that suit their personalities. Rukia's jewelry in particular is stunning, and vaguely reminds me of drops of blood, and the echoes of the scarlet color in Ichigo's shirt, the hanging chains, and the Hollow's ribbons makes your eye move around the picture wonderfully well.
The whole composition is really interesting as well, with the positions of the characters, their faces, and the chains and spotlight effect. I keep thinking of different stories to go with the picture- I love when a drawing makes me do that. Ichigo's and Rukia's expressions are so serious...and yet Rukia is covering the Hollow's eyes...and the Hollow is clutching Ichigo's throat and shoulder but Ichigo doesn't seem to be hurt...
It almost seems like Rukia and the Hollow are fighting over who gets Ichigo.
On a totally unrelated note, are you by any chance the LoquaciousQuark who wrote the fanfic Deathsong, or am I completely wrong?
