SO I was asked last year to do a calendar page for the IR fanclub over at BleachAsylum! I was honored to be asked and it was so much fun to do; it's a great group of girls and guys over there, and even though I lurk more than I post, I can always count on them to point out something new that I've never seen before in a manga page I've read a hundred times. (A special thanks goes to Syn, one of the IRFC mods, because this is her birthday month! Happy birthday, lovely!) You can see the rest of the calendar pages by several other lovely artists here ; just scroll down to the little image that says "calendar" on it.

The theme I was asked to do was "the warm, cozy, staying-at-home feeling," and Jerry Orbach's version of Try to Remember fit the mood I was going for perfectly. [link] If you listen to that and don't at least sniffle, you have no soul.

Anyway, here's the finished product. If your birthday's in September, then I TOTALLY did this for you, man. Happy birthday!

EDIT: Man, I never thought those silly books would get so much attention! Several people have asked what titles Ichigo and Rukia have on their Required Reading list, so on the top shelf from left to right we have: Bankai for Beginners, The Importance of Names, Your Shinigami and You, 7 Ways to Look Awesome (subtitle: Even When You're Getting the Crap Kicked Out of You), Upgrades Vol. I, Hare's Choice (I know. Shut up, it's an awesome book), and Rescues 101. Ichigo puts his Important Books on the top shelf because he thinks Rukia's too short to get to it, but Rukia can definitely still reach it if she wants to. She put Hare's Choice up there just to prove it.

Rukia's horror manga is on the lower shelf, and on the floor is a copy of Shakespeare's Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet.

(I also like to think that Byakuya gave Rukia an orchid as a housewarming gift, and ever since then, Rukia has taken cuttings every time it blooms and sticks them on every available flat surface in the house. Ichigo thinks they're worse than a plague of locusts they way they keep spreading, but Byakuya keeps giving him the stinkeye and he hasn't said anything. Yet.)
