Note: Spoilers for Bleach 420 below.So I was just thinking about the implications of chapter 420 and whether or not Ichigo could really lose his powers the way he thinks he will with Mugetsu's attack. And then I started thinking about his badge not working anymore and how it would affect his relationships with his shinigami friends--I mean, would he even be able to see them if he lost his spiritual ability? Ishida could see them after he only lost his powers, but he's a Quincy, not a shinigami--but then on the other hand, Isshin didn't fight Hollows for 20 years after he used the final Getsuga, so idek.
I guess it depends on whether he's only going to lose his reiatsu or if he'll lose all his spiritual ability together. Or whatever Kubo feels will provide the most dramatic character arc, I guess.
Anyway, it was late at night when my thoughts headed this way, and the idea of Ichigo not even being able to talk to Rukia as a shinigami wouldn't leave me alone until I drew it out. I just wish I'd had more time/inspiration to give this idea the proper execution. Might be scrapped later if I feel Walk-of-Shame-ish tomorrow morning.

This is so sweet now that I know what you're talking about! (when I saw this before, I wasn't at that part yet and had no idea) it's really sad but made for such a sweet and tragic goodbye, playing up Ichigo's sad eyes (my favourite Ichigo eyes, when he's sad/sometimes angry and his eyes are a little extra shiny) wonderfully. He's so sad here I think I might die! This is really great!

This is great. It's not that he's losing his reiatsu (spiritual pressure), it's his reiryoku (spiritual powers). I know people are used to hearing reiatsu and I don't mean to be annoying, but for some reason I felt like pointing that out. Anyways, I miss Rukia in the manga.

it's really nice! i like it a lot! the only thing i would've done differently is the direction in which Rukia is looking... i'd rather she was looking at Ichigo...with a sorta wistful stare

After reading the picture idea and then looking at the picture, I can see your idea clearly. The sad look on their faces are very nice, and the detail is beautiful. The idea you had there is sad, though after seeing the newest chapter it seem he didn't loose all of his power if he's still in his bankai outfit. Outfits could mean nothing, but I don't think he would still be in bankai mode if all powers were lost; I think he'd be a normal whole soul with chain of fate and all. Anyways, beautiful picture.

Very powerful image you have here, though I doubt Ichigo would let something as small and insignificent as losing all of his Shinigami powers for good holdhm back or stop him from helping his friends, thats one of his strongest traits, he never stops and never gives up no matter what. Byakuya and Renji didnt stop him, Kenpachi didnt stop him, not even Aizen has been able to stop him.
In short, if Ichigo wants his Rukia, his Rukia he shall have lol. Besides, there IS always the gigai for plan B right?

Oh my goodness.... you illustrated it well. The expression of both Ichigo and Rukia. Him, being depressed while looking at his no-longer-use badge; and her, being sad upon realizing that he might not even see her anymore. Oh my... >_<

It confuses me as to how he would actually worry this much about losing his powers, considering he looks like he's getting sick of the shinigami life at times. Though it is understandable, considering what his name means.
Though this pic gives me the thought of 'Maybe all I've done was for nothing...'

what i think will happen is that ichigo will lose his powers, but after that aizen will send him spiraling into town and ichigo's dad will give him his shimigami powers. Allowing him to kick aizens ass. remember that rukia gave ichigo his powers, so ichigo's dad can do the same thing. If the creator of this show makes him lose his power, many people would not like bleach anymore. Ichigo has to keep his power, or i will be sad and upset, going into a spiraling despar for the net 6 months.

Aah this made me tear up a bit! It's such a sad, sad idea- it's like all his shinigami nakama would suddenly 'really' be dead! I mean, of course they ARE dead but after this he may not be able to see them and talk to them even if they're right /there/ and it's just so heartbreaking, aah I shouldn't think about it to much otherwise I really WILL cry!
