Note: Spoilers for Bleach 420 below.So I was just thinking about the implications of chapter 420 and whether or not Ichigo could really lose his powers the way he thinks he will with Mugetsu's attack. And then I started thinking about his badge not working anymore and how it would affect his relationships with his shinigami friends--I mean, would he even be able to see them if he lost his spiritual ability? Ishida could see them after he only lost his powers, but he's a Quincy, not a shinigami--but then on the other hand, Isshin didn't fight Hollows for 20 years after he used the final Getsuga, so idek.
I guess it depends on whether he's only going to lose his reiatsu or if he'll lose all his spiritual ability together. Or whatever Kubo feels will provide the most dramatic character arc, I guess.
Anyway, it was late at night when my thoughts headed this way, and the idea of Ichigo not even being able to talk to Rukia as a shinigami wouldn't leave me alone until I drew it out. I just wish I'd had more time/inspiration to give this idea the proper execution. Might be scrapped later if I feel Walk-of-Shame-ish tomorrow morning.

You know? I thought the same thing! I was thinking will he not be able to see them anymore? Or forget about them. And then yesterday I remembered that I once read a comment where someone said Ichigo was sorta dead because of the time that Rukia stabbed him so that he could get the powers. So wouldn't he die? But I doubt that one.

Beautiful...I doubt they wouldn't be able to talk to each other though. Given the story it's just kind of unrealistic since it's Ichigo and Rukia that make Bleach. But I love the feeling you portrayed in this pic. Anatomy is really good.

It'll be a huge downer when and if he loses his shinigami powers. But I keep on hoping that maybe Orihime can like reverse time for him again so he can get it back.

i absolutely love this picture. you have a nice dramatic contrast, which fits the mood, and the thought of Ichigo and Rukia's relationship going strange because he'd lose his powers is enough to make me...sad. ;_;

If he is for sure going to lose his abilities, I don't think he'll lose his reiatsu. He's had crazy high reiatsu since before he became a Shinigami, so I doubt that he'll not be able to see or talk to them anymore. But that would definitely make for an interesting development. :'< Anywho, lovely job. I love the shading job.

His father knew of the "final" getsuga and he regained his power, so I guess he can get it back in maybe a (couple of) year(s).

I cried when I read Bleach 420 because I thought of something like that- he was able to see hollows and pluses and shinigami because his spiritual power was so high a result of his father being a shinigami. What I want to know is if he'll lose his powers, and if he does, would he lose his massive spiritual pressure as well? Only the next few chapters will show that, I guess.

Hold on. He said that he would lose all of his SHINIGAMI powers but he didn't say anything about his hollow powerss. maybe there still is hope. Besides, I don't think tite would get rd of them that easily. I don't want him to get rid of Hichigo.

Well, the way I see it, his hollow powers go hand in hand with his shinigami powers. Personally, I can't see how he could lose all his powers but maintain his hollow ones. I mean, the hollow mask only started appearing AFTER he had gained his own shinigami powers, and didn't Hichigo once say that he was a part of Zangetsu?
As for Ichigo not seeing Rukia, he could see ghosts and shinigami just fine even before his shinigami powers were awakened.
Still, if he DOES lose his powers, that greatly impacts Rukia's and Ichigo's relationship... and for worse, I think. :/

Well, I can't say that I'm really fan of this pairing, but this image is just awesome. I love the coluring and shading. Plus, Rukia looks so beautiful. I wish I knew how to draw her that well.

i think ichi will lose his powers the same way that his dad did and ofcaurse he will still be able to see them because he had the ability to lose ghosts before becauming shinigami

the first thought that came to my mind after reading the chapter was similar to this too. 
I thought he might lose all his powers and might have to start all over again but that couldn't happen.. it will be interesting to see how Kubo would pull this one off though.

No, he lost them, at least it was said so in the manga, if I remember correctly >.> If he had his powers he would have sensed Grand Fisher and protected Ichigo and Masaki, same with that Hollow in the first Chapter.

I think perhaps, his powers will take on a different sort of bent. Isshin still feels like he has no reiatsu, but was able to destroy that half formed Arrancar thing at the very beginning of this arc.
